Mike - nice Milan, works well with the shirt

Andy - If it was my hat I'd go for a stronger pinch, but it looks good as is - great colour

HamilcarBarca - nice job on the bash. As to crown height on today's great number - looks fine to me

David - I love that Worth & Worth, though the Bailey looks good too. I think Manfred has the best fleamarket radar!

Ed - nice Milan, I like the striped band - great colours.

Wife shopping at Kolh's today.

Been there done that, Ed. You're putting on a brave face, I must say.

David - I love that Worth & Worth, though the Bailey looks good too. I think Manfred has the best fleamarket radar!

Thanks, Richard. I won the Bailey on the Headwear Association Facebook page some time ago. My first thought was I'd never wear it, but it has become a go-to hat for warm weather hikes and walks.

David looks like the perfect wear for summer! Might I suggest posting the first image in the Hawaiian Shirts and Fedoras thread?

Thanks, Alex. I did think of putting this photo in that Hawaiian thread, but it is really a polo shirt with a Hawaiian pattern.
I did just buy a proper shirt (well a Tommy Bahama anyway :D) to wear at a tropical themed party some friends are hosting. That one will be in the Hawaiian Shirts and Fedoras thread for sure.

Based on the feedback I received, I tightened the pinch a bit. It looks a lot tighter in person and in the mirror than in the photos I've taken. Not sure why that is.

Pinch as it was this morning

Slightly stronger pinch

Manfred--cool in the morning, warm in the afternoon. I change hats often.

Andy and HamilcarBarca3--from the photos the bashes look good to me.

David--lovely photo of your wife, the doggies look happy, and oh yes, the two straws are perfectly matched for their respective occasions. Well done. Having lived in that part of the world for awhile, I do miss those nice New England summer days. Thanks for the comment on Art's ribbon treatment. That is what sold me on that hat.

Ed--hang in there. Does having a hat on make it easier? (It doesn't work for me:p)

Jeff--put some snow on the Carmack and you could open up your own ski slope :D. It looks like it could handle just about anything that comes its way.

Out and about this morning wearing the Mallory Dallas.

Trying to keep my hat on, late Friday afternoon as Typhoon Soulik bore down upon Taipei.

Surveying the damage early Saturday morning.

Back to normal by early Saturday afternoon. Shopping in the vibrant Xinyi District.

Great natural light in the atrium of the impressive Bellavita shopping complex.

Stepping out Saturday evening...waiting to hail a cab.

Great day of fine lids gents. You all inspire. Thanks for the BSHW comments.

Al, you were tempting fate with those fine Optimos in the wet weather and wind, glad you and they came out unscathed.

Spent a fine day with the women in my life. Lunch in Gig Harbor with a view from the deck of the Tides Tavern.

Note Mt Rainier in the background

Thank YOU, Richard! Beautiful Sunday images.

Mike, thanks for your kind words as well as your fabulous photos with your lovely ladies and wonderful looking milan. I treasure my Montecristis, but I also cherish every moment I have with them. They are scarcely off my head during the Summer months. lol

Monday morning

A few days ago I bashed my two Comos into teardrops. Didn't like the looks of the new lines. Put them back into center creases last night. I'm not a big fan of the taper - but it is what it is.

I really like the stitching on the brim Andy.

Have you tried a diamond crease. It may minimize the taper side to side.

The whip stitching is the trademark of this fedora. And the quality is top notch. The teardrop got rid of all the taper, but it just wasn't what the hat was designed for. Though a diamond would decrease the side to side taper, it will eliminate the original Continental design of the center crease - making it more of a U.S style. So it's a trade-off: either keep the European look and deal with the taper, or put in a diamond or teardrop, eliminate the taper, but change the intent of the hat.

It's good that the crown is not low so for me the hat looks fine.

I have seen some center creases that are narrow and some that are not. I have made a center crease that is almost in between a center crease and a c crown. You may be able to open it up some and remove some taper without getting away from the look it originally had.

It's kind of fun to play around with the creases and the dents. Even changing the front dents to where they are high and don't come down far can change the appearance of taper some. I call it high and tight.
