I've got a strange schedule but if at all possible I'm in.
I always enjoy getting together with you Tom. If we hear from rkwilker we'll see if we can put it together. Perhaps even without him! :p

Thanks for the info rmrdaddy. I have heard good things about Mahogony and it sounds exactly like my kind of place. Will be in Philly Aug 9-13. Perhaps we can meet at Mahogony and enjoy one of our favorite beverages and a smoke. ;)

Time to pick the collective brain here. I've had my humidor since April of this year, I use a crystal gel-type humidifier secured to the lid and use only distilled water to fill it. A week ago we left for a trip, I grabbed a couple of cigars, filled the humidifier, and away we went. When we came back I went to replace one cigar I didn't smoke and found the humidifier crystals were no longer clear. They now have a muddy color to them.

I'm using the same jug of distilled since April. The humidor wasn't disturbed at all for the week we were gone. And I didn't add any new or stronger cigars to the box before we left. 3 months clear, then boom, one week and color change.

Is this to be expected, is the humidifier itself "seasoning"?

Arturo Fuente Exquisito, small cigar with big taste.

I quit dipping Copenhagen a month or so ago and found myself smoking about thirty dollars worth of cigars a day to make up for it.
Finally went to my favorite shop, talked to the owner and bought a fifty count box of these little beauties! Three or four of them a day only add up to $9 or $10 a day.

JJ, how muddy are we talking?
Beads will turn a cloudy white as they dry out. But if they have a coloration to them, I might be concerned.I don't use the gel type, I trained crystal cat litter to 67% and add moisture maybe 2-3 times a month. The beads are in homemade nylon bags, and I just have them placed around inside my humis. What is the RH and Temp inside the humi right now?
If the RH and Temp are way up, you might even have mold on those beads my man....
