What cigar (or pipe) did you smoke today?

Vauen 1509 with Intro 4 mouthpiece + Holger Danske Golden Harmony.

I just prefer the Holger Danske, when I restart. It's still very mild and you can't go wrong with it.

I've been smoking cigars since a few decades, I used to sell them in a few bars and restaurants I ran, so still I have a very decent stock of larger Havana vitoles that are all aging beautifully in my humidor, which holds about 10 boxes of 25. I have mostly boxes this size with the exception of a few smaller ones, and a few 50 cigar cabinets. I rended to keep the best tasting and rolled boxes for myself, they are all stronger fuller varieties and are all aging exceptionally well, mostly Partagas D Series of different sizes and a few exceptional Monte Cristo special editions, including a chocolate brown wrapped Double Corona that is one of the very best cigars I've ever smoked, truly exceptional, and the rare B and C models that come in lovely varnished boxes.

But I was compelled to post today after lighting up a Por Larrañaga Galanes, of which I recently bought a few singles. This is a very old Cuban brand that Habanos had neglected for a while, and which became pretty rare. It's a delight, a real traditional Havana flavour profile (earth and leather dominating, with chocolate and coffee notes), pretty ,ild for a Cuban but with a really pleasant development of flavours, and a great easy draw, a perfect afternoon cigar with a glass of malt whiskey. I'm about halfway through and nice notes of black and green peppercorn are peeking through.

I love these sizes of cigar, they are less fashionable these days but a good Corona, Petit Corona, or my absolute favourite, the elegant and nowadays fairly rare Lonsdale (of which the classic Partagas 8-9-8 is my all time favourite) is hard to beat. Por Larrañaga makes an excellent Panetella as well, which I'm now excited to try after being reassured that the quality is still there and the flavour profile so attractive.

I can't say much about Panetellas from other countries, but the Cuban Gloria Cubana also makes a great one, they are a very odd shape, long and very thin, but have a very particular charm worth experiencing, if you ever have the chance.

I tend to smoke Montecristos in the smaller sizes these days, they are a sure thing and remain superb examples of great, balanced, rich and well smoking traditional Havanas, at reasonable prices, speaking comparatively, at least.

Otherwise, I tend to Bolivar, Juan Lopez, San Cristobal de La Habana, Vegas Robaina, and Sancho Panza, and a few others that are very dependant on the model.
