Oh but of course.
Not at all, not at all.
Not at all, not at all.

For a special prize at our upcoming "Evening in Havana" celebration - a party with gaming tables, drinks and food from Havana's heyday in the 1950s - we have purchased two boxes of pre-embargo cigars as prizes along with a few for ourselves...
warbird said:So you bought some from a collector? I'm assuming you are saying you got some pre-embargo Party's and not a cigar called a pre-embargo?
vonwotan said:Warbird - Yes. We purchased two boxes + (one full box, and two partially filled boxes) of pre-embargo Cubans, both from the 1950's that would have been found in the clubs and casinos of Havana. While they drew well and had a pleasant but relatively mild flavor I'm not certain I would plunk down that much money again for personal consumption. We might do it again with some 1930s smokes if they are still available for our next Jazz Age period event - but I'll also need to solicit some extra contributions from our members...
warbird said:Yeah, I have found disappointment with the few pre-embargoes I have tried. The problem is that no matter how well stored a cigar is it starts to lose oils after 15-20 years. I have never had one that was anything but just OK.
do you like La Aurora generally? I have not tried that brand yet.maintcoder said:Today I enjoyed a Rocky Patel R4 torpedo after some yard work, yesterday was a 5 Vegas torpedo, Friday was a La Aurora 1492 robusto, and Thursday was a Romeo Y Julietta bully. And they were all very good...

Keep a few of those Partagas and bury them deep in the humidor for a few years from now. They should be sublime.
