What cigar (or pipe) did you smoke today?

I see briar pipes referenced in here a lot but not much about meerschaum at all. I haven't smoked a pipe since being gifted my first briar in the 80's and never quite getting the hang of it (an occasional blast of hot nasty tasting juice on my tongue was the problem). I had always thought meerschaum was the hot setup but apparently I was wrong. Is meerschaum more form than function?
I’m intrigued by your question. I’ve gotten some good tips on this forum to try pipe smoking. Like you, I haven’t quite gotten the hang of it. I started with a Peterson briarwood pipe. Any knowledge shared is good for me to learn more.

Meerschaum is, what it is.
Was a status-symbol in the old times, is still a luxury item today. Just not for affordable mass production as clay and briar wood. Of course top-notch material with a neutral taste.

With the briar-crisis, currently more and more olive wood pipes appearing.
