It probably needs a good coat of bees wax to help it color more. The only place I have been able to find pure food grade bees wax is a place in the city that sells canning supplies. I try not to go into the city.

I have 2 meerschaum pots, a billiard & a cutty. All are older block meerschaum pipes. The cutty has the best coloring.

I'm not a big fan of figurally carved pipes but here is one carved from briar that I think is outstanding work. The carver named it Gandolf. I lost the link to his website & it may have been sold by now. I think the detail is just fantastic! Can you just imagine the hrs that went into carving this?
