Title: Is It Possible to Remove One Row of Welt Stitching and Trim the Sole? (Rolling Dub Trio LORO ZIP)

Hi everyone,

I own a pair of Rolling Dub Trio LORO ZIP boots, which I'm very happy with in terms of quality and craftsmanship.
However they are a size 11 and I think that they look to big on my feat.

I've been considering whether it would be possible to modify the welt to achieve a slightly slimmer and cleaner appearance.

The boots have two rows of visible welt stitching, and ideally, I would like to remove the outer row and trim down the protruding welt and outsole, leaving only the inner row of stitching.

I understand that the LORO ZIP uses a Direct Welt construction, but I'm unsure whether both rows of stitching are structurally necessary.

My main questions are:

  1. Would it be technically possible for a skilled cobbler to remove the outer row of stitching and trim the welt and outsole closer to the upper?
  2. Would the remaining inner row of stitching be sufficient to maintain the structural integrity of the boots?
  3. Could this be done by carefully trimming and refinishing the existing welt and sole, or would it require a more extensive reconstruction?
  4. Has anyone here had a similar modification done to a pair of boots, particularly ones with a double-stitched welt?
I'm not looking to compromise the construction or durability of the boots. I simply prefer the more understated appearance of a narrower, single-row welt.

I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences from members familiar with this type of boot construction.

Thanks in advance!

As someone who understands getting hyper focused on something i understand your post. As a removed party i’ll say they look fine how they are and you should leave them alone. Yes a cobbler can do the work but it really doesn’t seem worth the effort.
