The shades of full grain blue that we use for our Aero Cafe' Racers and A-1s are so close to vintage originals that you can't tell the difference!
Vanson Comet PLU-3 in Comp. Weight Leather
and...
a Vanson Model B to boot....I love these photos!
That last one really scrambles my eggs....how much diff is the hh for insurrection thedi than off the rack thedi from thedi? They look superb Carrie...top shelf....
These are nice!
Excuse me but do you have anything in a olive green?
Worf
Absolutely...Full Grain 3.0-3.5 oz.!
OK, Worf, you're in too deep now. Which one are you going to get?
Carrie - any pics of the green hide(s)?
The Thedi Cafe Racers are the bees knees!!! Don't know which of the two padded designs I like better, perhaps the diamond-stitch one?
Carrie, some questions :
Would these fit like the Schott CAF or do these have a longer body? Tried on a Schott CAF recently and loved the look, different from my Schott 141 & LW B-Ryder.
Being HH, I'm assuming the leather is thicker than Schott CAF?
Any other colors besides black available off the rack right now? Or do we have to place an order & wait a month or two?
For the diamond-stitch one, are the side gore panels really stretchy or just have a bit of give?
For the two with zippers behind the back - is there a v-panel (is that the right term?) underneath like on the sleeves, or nothing underneath?
And price is $850 or thereabouts, right?
Thank you very much. The Vanson and Aero are all very nice too. Just picked up an older Vanson Model-B from ebay for my brother, I think he's going to like it. Also considering Aero cafe racer in brown in the (hopefully) not too distant future!
Hi 2wheelgrplr,
These Thedi cafe' racers have a much slimmer silhouette than the Schott CAF1; they fit much like original Buco J-100s and Beck Cafe' Racers.
The horsehide is very supple and strong...you're correct, about the weight of a Schott CAF1.
On the cafe' racer with the diamond-stitching on the shoulders, the side panels are true accordion leather and they stretch nicely (quite a bit!)...it's not just aesthetics...
For the back zips (the 1260 and 1261 have these), there's no leather behind the zippers.
The price is $825.00 USD, which includes all shipping and US Customs fees... Brown and blue hides are custom orders and the wait time is about 3-4 weeks...
Hope this helps...they're great jackets!!!
Carrie, I know Aero doesn't like to do very many changes on their jackets anymore. I was wondering if it is possible to have the front pocket configuration on the 1930 Half Belt changed from one slanted pocket, to two straight pockets?
Yo Carrie, cheers!
Should you, perhaps, have an Aero's Indian Ranger hanging somewhere close by, could I please bother you for a couple of pictures of it, as I'm having some serious trouble deciding whether to buy it or not? I'm sure others would also appreciate a few photos of this rather elusive jacket. Thank you kindly!
Hi Carrie, thanks so much for the detailed reply, answers all my questions. Glad I asked about fit comparison between Schott CAF1 and these as I was assuming fit would be similar, good to know the difference. I really really want one in this style and these look as good as it gets. Will mull over style & color and get back to you guys, probably a little bit down the road as what I really need right now is a proper armored leather jacket that fits me well and looks good on my old airhead, of my leather jackets I don't like the ones I have with armor and the ones I like don't have armor Two road "incidents" this past year, not taking any chance! You guys don't do something like a Vanson House with armor pockets by any chance, do you? Thanks again!
It sure does! One of the sweetest Aero 1/2 belts I've seen on the Lounge is configured like that (Sierra Charriba's).
