Opinions on these two jackets (Thedi and Schott)

Hey, I’ve wanted a reddish/burgundy leather for awhile, last year I had a custom Thedi aviator via Thurston bros jacket made. Which is running late but I expect to be done within the next 2 months. This is Buffalo leather. Schott also released a type 2 leather in horsehide that I really like.

In your opinions, are these jackets too similar to have? A part of me says no they are not, but the more reasonable side says I don’t need them both. What are your opinions? The Thedi is already paid off and I’m waiting, the Schott I would be able to get a little cheaper but it’s still expensive.

I don’t see these as similar really. They both have a similar pocket set up but look quite distinct from one another. Assuming that’s you in the Schott…would be hard to walk away from and frankly I like it a bit more.

I do like the Schott more and feel it can be easier to wear. However the Thedi is already paid for and should arrive in the next month or two

I don't think these two jackets are too similar to exist in the same wardrobe. That being said, you may want to wait until you get the Thedi to pass judgement on it. Give it a chance and all that. However, I do like the Schott a good bit more than the Thedi.

No I'm not going to cancel the Thedi, I want to get it in hand first. I guess the best thing for me to do is be patient and wait until I have it in hand to see how I feel about it. If I had the option to get the custom thedi or the schott, I would likely go with the schott. But since the custom is bought and paid for that's really not a choice

I think the collar have a pretty huge difference, also zipper vs button that pretty much decide if I want to wear it open or closed up for me

Yup that’s exactly what I’m thinking too

Completely different mission.
Thedi for when you need useful pockets and need to cinch the waist and sleeves to keep wind and weather out.
Schott for when you need a loose covering and do not need to bother with the pocket limitations.

Even if they are similar, keep them both if you want to. You do you. I have 2 Schott Jackets that are pretty similar and I'm keeping them both because I like them both.
