Assuming you're referring to the "swastika", before the Nazi Party adopted the symbol in the 1920s and rotated it 45° it was a sacred symbol used by practitioners of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism (among others) in many cultures. In the Western world it represented future success or good luck.Interesting floorpattern. I wonder what the backstory on that is in Washington, DC in 1922.
