The old hard and fast rule is no brown shoes in town, and pinstripe is a town suit. Of course, looking at old Esquire illustrations shows they broke the "rules" all the time, but even today a dark suit would call for a darker brown shoe.

How I wish I could tell you that the car was mine. Alas no such luck. I don't have clue as what it cost to restore or what it's worth now. It's a 1924 Hispano Suiza that was once owned by the Mellons.

Wow, now that's a rare car if there ever was one. A technological marvel of its day as well. You and it go well together. (Restoration cost would be gargantuan, as would be the price. Jay Leno owns one, and has a video of it on his site that briefly goes over the history of the company.)

Yes that's a beautiful car, Paul McCartney has one which we often see him driving round in as he lives nearby. Sir Paul doesn't quite cut it on the sartorial front like Mr Bugsy though, someone should have a word!!

Ha ha, yes I thought the same, it is very much a Clark Kent suit, isn't it?

He tended not to be growing a mustache, and probably shaved before taking photos, though.

While most of these aren't proper suits, I don't know if it's worth a whole new thread for these. I don't have a camera myself, so I have to rely on action shots from me on Facebook. Not exactly the best format for looking at details, but it does give some context.

Here is my yearbook photo, which truly captures it all:

My Stroller (not exactly correct because the jacket is velvet, but I don't care! It's quite touchable). Peaked Lapels, double-breasted waistcoat and houndstooth trousers.

My stark black and white look. It's my 3x3 DB, but you can't tell in this picture. Heavy as can be. Now that I have a beard, I look even more Hassidic.

Here's me at Halloween in Brooklyn. Note, this was not intended to be a costume, I would have worn this on any cold day in the city. When people asked me what I was, I referenced this from SimCity 2000:

"Occasionally I idle time away by wondering what cities would be like, were they people. Manhattan is, in my head, fast-talking, untrusting, well-dressed but unshaven. London is huge and confused. Paris is elegant and attractive, older than she looks. San Francisco is crazy, but harmless, and very friendly."

Finally, here is my favorite piece, but none of these pictures do its absolute insanity justice. Under the right condition, the pattern is positively mesmerizing. The tie I wore was certainly too busy, but I was at a party of recent college graduates, so I just went all out and didn't look back.

my one and only suit, that I've owned for 10 years and worn perhaps 2 dozen times... the shirt and tie are new as of a week or two ago, and the hat is a vintage knox.

Oh yeah,everything else would give me pause......but then maybe somebody tried doctoring the jacket and realized it wasn't working and gave up.....in any event it's a stylistic mess.
