I have been terribly naughty. As we know right now things are difficult for many -- I am one of those having both my jobs put on pause. I have been seeking out any bit of happiness I can find and sewing patterns are one of those bits of happiness... for my heart NOT my wallet!

I recently purchased these 3 patterns from an FB group. I have only received the top one so far. The two from the 40s are something I am more likely to make as the WWII silhouette flatters my figure much better than the elegant figure hugging 30s. I can't say no to a 30s pattern that is an affordable (for me) price even if my chances of making and wearing it are low!

I've been pretty busy whilst in lockdown. I've been sewing for only 6 months, so I'm still a novice really, but I'm improving with each thing I make.

I've always liked British Battledress blouses and managed to track down a pic of the original 1937 pattern block which I scaled up to make what is essentially a wearable toile from the remnants of denim & canvas.

I haven't bought a sewing pattern in a loooooong time. Last thing I sewed was a 1913 Past Patterns dress, which I would consider a fail (way, way too big). I just bought the 1930s "Corsage Dress" pattern from DoS. I'm gonna make it when I lose this weight.

Hello, I am new to sewing with a pattern and I saw this pattern in a 1940s newspaper. Do any of you who sew know of any patterns that have the same steps as this pattern?

Which show the dress is cut to where its all one piece, cut out the neck hole, fold the fabric at the shoulders, sew the side seams, and hem.

Though it looks like one piece, I am guessing it is actually 6 pieces not including the 2 neck facings. I believed it is laid out like that on the pattern art to illustrate that the dress is actually an unfitted dressed that is fitted by those side straps. I may be wrong here... anyone else care to chime in with their thoughts?

I agree, it's not one piece. One piece wouldn't have the fit, but you can also tell by the fabric print. Maybe by now the OP is a more experienced sewist and can recreate the pattern going by the image. It's super cute.
