For the Olympia line price you can get quite a few top end trusted and well established brand pieces that have much higher resale value. So for me that's more of a "backer" type deal where you are closely connected to the brand and want to finance/support it.

In the Archive page (why is it an archive if there are still models for sale there? just one of many wtf's of recent RW developments) you can still grab OTR jackets for a flat ~480eur (lazy pricing everything the same) if your size is in stock.

For me Master Supply remains the main competitor of RW, despite RW jacking up the prices and trying to look very Japanese-y with the new model (showing off fit) and designs.

If you refer to Aero then 20% is absolutely not realistic. My latest Aero, received on wednesday, in grainy jerky horsehide, no internal pockets, cost 990 pounds before taxes, roughly 1350e in total.
You got a Plainsman, right? Fair enough, you have to increase quite a bit more than 20%. Still, I think that if you get to the point of paying that much (750), you may well be just going the Aero route which you can still customize (depending on your choices, at a cost or not). Edit: Aero does have other Half Belt models RTW in stock though, ranging from 700 to 925 GBP, making many of them available for the 20% I've mentioned.

I've said in the first pages of the thread how I felt that RW was in no man's land (too expensive as a budget option or just to try the style; not good enough to fulfill the illusion of "this one jacket and I'm done"), which I still think to a worse new degree.

Perhaps I'm wrong and they did step up in quality to justify the new price, though. But I'm not going to personally find out, I will allow someone else to purchase and come review it.

I've noticed that too. I would like to say it is a bit like an outlet, but then they would be discounted and I believe they all used to go for around that price of 480. Instead, it's more of a "last chance to get this".

Yep

ranging from 700 to 925 GBP,
Does this include VAT?

No. Although I'm not sure if RW's include it.
I think it does.

For whatever its worth, I am absolutely loving my Rugged West Sentinel (single rider sports jacket) that I got made in black teacore steerhide recently. Paid quite a bit less than the current prices since its an older design no longer offered on the website, from what I gather.

Built like a tank, thick steerhide, nice even stitching and heavy duty hardware, with basic customizations in sleeve measurements, and a beautiful navy blue lining etc. Of course, I am a relative newcomer to jackets, have been more of a boots person till recently, so I am no expert of any kind on super premium leathers - and , certainly dont have the budget for new Aeros or the like, being in a country where basic cost and duties add up to astronomical numbers. Plus, used market is non existent here.

Plan to wear RW hard for years to come- for me, its most likely a one and done black single rider jacket. Only exception might be if I am ever able to pick up a RC Hercules someday when budget permits :)

Hi everyone,
After a long wait, the jacket finally arrived!

I'd really appreciate your thoughts on the overall fit, the hardware, and the finish. Does anything stand out to you as being inaccurate or not quite right for a J-82?

I personally have some issues with the overall finish but I would love to read your opinions about the fit

Later I will share a full review
Thanks in advance!

I think it looks good on you but I don't know if it is that the pictures are gloomy and kinda backlit, but it looks kinda.... Boring? Like nothing particularly special beyond it being a J-82 rather than the more common J-23/24, like the one in the thread's initial message. Might also be I'm biased as not a big fan of RW.

Could you share better pictures, as well as close ups on the hide?

Good fit and looks good overall. Some better lit pictures would show off the fit better.

Looks really cool and like it fits really well to me - seems to be more or less an exact reproduction of the McCoys Buco J-82.. How does it feel to wear - comfortable, no too tight or rubbing areas which could start to become a drag? These are some of the most important questions that I tend to ask when I get a new item of clothing. I'd be inerested to know what the thoughts that you mentioned having are?

Like all things based in sentiment, RW on this forum went from "peak hype" early summer 2025, to "peak negativity" late spring 2026. This sorts of things are typical across all product ranges, and tends to occur when a new brand pops out. The hype train probably contributes to a small shop struggling to scale to new demand.

I figure the sentiment will balance back and settle down - glad you got a jacket with great fit and feels good.

Meh. Haven't been here for so long and I'm limited to having only seen when Field got "peak negative" and I think RW (and any upcoming maker) would kill to have Greg's peak negativity (higher prices, long waiting list, influencer given side quests).

RW showed up as a maker open to customizing while being affordable-ish thanks to being made in Pakistan and having designs for women (peak hype), which then pivoted into not so affordable allegedly Pakistan made jackets with a high end sub-brand that is yet to prove its real value (peak negativity). I don't particularly blame them for pivoting, it's clear that women are not interested enough in "heritage" jackets to drive a brand and I guess that custom is tricky and/or expensive when you deal across continents.

As we seem to agree this has become the RW thread, just saw this review on Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/leatherjacket/comments/1x7133t
TLDR: Shinki A-2 jacket for a lady, Olympia line. Around 1900 USD, over 2000 with tariffs. 4 months turn around. Another mention of communication being an area of improvement.

I think it does look and fits quite well. I would go as far as saying it's the best fitting RW I've seen. Or best RW overall. I guess purists would say this is not how an A-2 should fit, but I couldn't care less. I do think the sleeves look a tad short tho.

@Zoro

Until admins close this one without explanation or warning (or delete it completely like they did with the Rugged West AI scandal one) it does seem like my review thread is the official RW thread haha.

I saw that one as well. Was not a fan until I saw that it's a ladies jacket and how nice it looks on her (although the sleeves are too short like you mentioned, pretty big oopsie on 2k+ jacket imo).
Making ladies jackets is where I give the most kudos to RW, otherwise very meh IMO.
2k+ for this is bonkers.

"It was definitely an impulse buy on my part. After talking with her, I decided to go straight for the Olympia A-2 style in Shinki horsehide." Wish I had the funds to buy a 2k+ jacket on impulse.

"I'll admit, communication could have been a little better, especially when it came to responsiveness. But I figured she was probably just trying to keep her head above water with everything involved in running a business by herself."
How the hell are people still justifying **** communication like this? She's been running this business for a few years now, how long does she need to keep her head above the water? And she has quite a few assistants by now.
