So I practice on another piece of leather I have, since new thread, new needles--I opted for olive drab, because my old jacket was olive, and I don't want to hide my repairs, I want them to be part of the history of the jacket. Theory is down, it's functional--aesthetics? Welll---shoulda done one long saddle stitch, but I mis-judged the necessary length. Still, cathartic to take an awl to a 1000£+ jacket, and it fits its ethos :D

Next: redoing buttonholes by hand! Will take forever, and I'm travelling soon, so likely no posting till August.

Anyone else take needle and thread to their jackets?

Again, just so liberating not to have to send a jacket back, and to do it yourself, such as it is...
