Really like the Lee Roan

Excellent finds Roan. I've seen Lee Black Label and Blue Label hats but I don't think I've seen a White label before. From my understanding, the blue label is a step above the black label so maybe the White Label is a step above the Blue Label or somewhere else in the pecking order.

Thanks guys, I'm really happy about having gotten these, especially the Lee. It's nice to know what the colors mean as far as quality goes; anyone care to hazard a guess as to the age of the hat?

Bronze: $8.50
Blue: $10

This one will be up for sale soon, as it is a bit too big (7 1/4 -7 3/8). No issues that I can see.

My statement still stands - the White Label was superior in materials and construction to the 2 Gold labels I've handled.

IIRC the crown top liner would suggest a 50s date. basic training put some pounds on ya!

Maybe so. I can't know anything about the two Gold labels you've handled, but Gold was still the undisputed top of Lee's label hierarchy.

Probably fairly early 50's - the sweat still has the GA Dunn name which was dropped in the 50's and I don't think the Crown logo was that long lived.

I see! It's a shame that it is a bit on the larger spectrum. GA makes some nice velours.

The HORROR!

I noticed a fedora for sale on an Etsy site and decided to take a chance on it. The description noted a small green stain on the band which I couldn't really see, so I hoped for the best and made the purchase.

In my notes to the seller I made sure to include, "Thank you for careful packaging", in the hope that the hat would be better packed than some I've received.

I warn you - some of the following pictures are NOT pretty.

As it was received. I've placed a quarter on the box for scale. (A banana wasn't handy)


With hands shaking from anger and frustration I carefully cut the tape and opened the box.


Since the damage had already been done, I took a pic as seen from the other side.

A search of the site vis Google yeilded very little regarding Worth & Worth hats sold through Neiman Marcus. I'd appreciate any information that can be passed on.

The hat DOES need some help. The small green stain is actually a quarter-sized stain on the front of the band, and I don't think it'll come out. I can deal with the slight moth bites, and the dust and cat hair can be brushed off, but I may have to send this one out for some cosmetic surgery. Steam I can handle; ribbon work - not so much. I don't even want to think about trying to re-cover the button on the wind trolley.

Needless to day, I WON'T be purchasing from this vendor again.

Here is my new (vintage) hat.

Got this for about $40 on Ebay. It was open crown (looked it had never been bashed) and in excellent condition, so I couldn't pass it up.

My normal MO is to get it re-firb'd into a snap brim, but since I bought I bowler I figured I keep this as a Hoburg and see if it grows on me...

Leave it. It looks good on you, and it's never a bad thing to have some variety.
