No scent ever. I am somewhat sensitive to it and I know a few people who are badly hurt by proximity to any scent. So I use a scent-free deodorant and no aftershave. And hope those around me follow suit. Don't mean to rain on the parade, but I've seen cologne ruin an evening.

I hear you. Scent has certainly destroyed my enjoyment of movies and restaurants over the years - many people wear too much and it and gives me a headache.

I don't understand where all the hate for fragrances came from. The 70's and 80's were epic for fragrances then all of a sudden it took on the roll of big tobacco.
As far as being in close quarters with other people and smells THE LAST odor I would complain about is cologne or perfume. Being from NYC and riding packed subways and walking crowded streets I really appreciate when someone uses a fragrance. I have smelled body odor and bad breath and dirty scalps near my nostrils.
Funny how some people who feel they don't need to " cover up " actually need too.

I've got a friend who says he doesn't need to shower everyday because his sweat is clean. YEAH OK ! :)

Each to their own I guess. The trick that I have found to wearing a scented fragrance is not to overdo it. Just a couple of short presses on the plunger, no more. A small bottle will last me from one Christmas to the next. The fragrance that I use is called: Opium, it's YSL (Yves St Laurent,) product and it's by the Creative Fragrance Company, or CFL.

My love of dancing has always made me think of my partner, paying close attention to my body and oral hygiene, has paid dividends over the years. So many times a lady has asked my wife if she wouldn't mind her dancing with her husband. It's very flattering to be told that I dance well and, as one lady put it: "Darling, your breath is fresh and your armpits sweet, I do hope that we can dance again later."

I suppose it is because smelling senses and the sensitivity for fragances vary a great deal from one individual to the next. I, for instance, have a finely developed smelling sense, and it is especially acute in respect to body odors (not nice if you use public transport). My wife doesn't notice sweaty smells as I do, but she will smell even the faintest hint of mold.

I like to use aftershave or a colognes, and occasionally pomade that is slightly scented because it adds another dimension to feeling clean and wearing fresh clothes.

As GHT said the key is not to overdo it: I love a nice bay rum aftershave, and the rather strong corresponding frangrance of Morgan's Pomade, but I wouldn't inflict that on fellow commuters and the colleagues at the office. For everyday use a splash of a not-too-penetrating AS like Myrsol Agua de Limon will do (hardly noticeable after 15 minutes).

I have worked with a couple people who always smelled of week-old BO. Man, it was tough to take. I had a client come in to my last office that probably hadn't bathed in months. It was so bad I thought I would get sick. I sat down next to him and immediately had to stand back up and put some distance between us. Ugh.

Light use of perfume and cologne is fine, but I also know some people, usually women, who really overdo it. When you can smell someone from across the room, then it's too much. A faint smell when you're in close proximity if about perfect.

It's not a choice or an aesthetic. It's more like an allergy. Colognes and perfumes and other scents give me a sharp headache. They are extremely distracting when I am in a concert or movie (long exposure). They are shocking and unpleasant when I am exercising (why do people soak themselves with scents before hiking in the woods?).

Not making a judgement and not saying this is or is not vintage. Saying it actually hurts to be around for me and some others I know. You might have a similar reaction to cigarettes or cats or something. Just something to consider.

Good old "Drakkar Noir" from tester in department store. :)

But like I said before, I wouldn't buy it ever again. Just not worth the money. It just unbelievable, how WEAK it's last formula still is! :(
