Master supply co leather jacket

One thing I have noticed over the years here is that the more mediocre the maker, the more fierce the defenders. I‘ve seen this with Five Star, U.S. Authentic, and now Master Supply. This is a new wrinkle, though. I think this is the first time I’ve seen someone who has actually never actually handled nor wore the jacket extolling its virtues so vociferously.
I also notice he edited his last wall of text where he acknowledged the gaping stitch holes I pointed out. I suspect he had an “UH oh” momment and realized that photos do matter and that’s precisely what he ultimately used to push him over the edge to purchase. I envision him at some point feverishly sweating on the toilet with an along came Polly stomach trying to return the jacket before it’s even delivered.

He's not the first, sadly won't be the last. A modicum of respect wouldn't have hurt him. I've been here since 2004 and been a member since 2006, and I still learn something every time I check out this forum, which is sadly not as often as I used to have time to. Bottom line, some people are just annoying dipsticks and, as my old man used to say, "You can't educate a mug."

Now I can return to enjoying Ton's adventures in 70s jacket bliss and everyone else exploring the world of vintage, rare and cool jackets (with the odd crazy one thrown in for our amusement).

Those stitch hole comments where on the other thread. It's so much text and he posted it in two different places, but there are some substantive differences. Not that either one is worth reading, but here's the other one, post 94:

Because there were so many words and so few pictures, I took these today to share. You can see what I mean about how the hide wants to wrinkle. Sorta reminds me of deerskin? It’s very comfortable from the get go but I have doubts about long term durability.

Anyways a decent looking jacket but not sure if deserves all the text walls. Then again, you’d be surprised at how many folks are passionate about the Milwaukee Leather jacket that sells for $130 who come for me on YouTube

Just to be clear the Master supply is not using a thicker leather than Rugged West. Rugged Wests two tone is 1.7-1.9mm. I am not saying this to be a dick I just want people to have full transparency on the materials and how it does or doesn't effect the stitching.

For anyone reading this later, a quick clarification.

I’ve been silent because I was banned for a week—not because I left the conversation. That’s part of how closed groups maintain control.

As I’ve said before, the big picture here was never about a leather jacket or a brand. It was about how gatekeeping gets framed as expertise, and how dissent gets dismissed—usually as arrogant, elitist, irrational—among other tired tropes. That’s a familiar playbook in closed spaces.

As I have said many times, this was never about a leather jacket. My concern was with the way the brand was being dismissed—based on reasoning that didn’t hold up—not whether I had the jacket in hand at the time. I’ve said this several times already, but it clearly hasn’t registered: I have no affiliation with the brand. I just happen to like the jacket (which I have now received). But again, the jacket itself was never the point.

What’s been missed, despite repeated clarification, is that my contribution was about fairness. To the extent that I “defended” the jacket, I did so in the interest of balance, in a discussion that had already set a precedent for critique in the absence of first-hand experience or possession. The irony is that I was criticized for offering a reasoned perspective without having received the jacket yet—while many of the loudest critiques came from people who hadn’t owned or experienced the product either.

To that end, I do appreciate the contributions of those whose posts move in the same direction.

My silence after this post won’t be a retreat (though it has already been framed that way). If there are attempts to spin this after I’m gone—whether as a claim of victory, some effort at delegitimization, or some new iteration of the same group reinforcement—that’s part of the pattern too. Future readers can make their own judgments.

I thought we were going to get a full review with lots of pictures? I actually like the jacket that you purchased and was hoping to see some non advertising pictures of it. It's hard to find a natural leather jacket at that price point.
