Proto-Homburg? My great-grandfather ca late 1890s.
Super! But it's not Proto-Homburg. It's a Curled Brim Soft Felt Hat which was common in that time.

A Homburg Hut/Hat is a type (see this thread) of Curled Brim Soft Felt Hat. The Homburg Hut/Hat was brought back to England from Bad Homburg, Germany by Edward VII around 1880. The company that made it was PH. Möckel Hutfabrik, Homburg vor der Höhe, Hoflieferant Sr. Maj. d. (Seiner Majestät des) Kaisers u.(und) Königs (Official supplier to his Majesty the Emperor & King) und Sr. Maj. d. Königs v. (von) England ("Official supplier to his Majesty the King of England").Thank you... never heard of that hat style before. I noticed that the brim didn't have the satin edging, and also didn't have the satin band. Has the look of a Homburg. He would have been a bit young career-wise to have worn a Homburg at the time; though he was a snappy dresser (my dad said his mom referred to him as "Mr. Dude"). Thanks again for the information.
It is a very cool one, Steve. I think I had the colour as "perugia".I bought this Homburg/Lobia a while back from Stefan, but haven't posted it yet. It was a good choice for the autumn weather that kicked in today.
Borsalino had a hand in the manufacture of the Brasiliano brand at one point.
It's hard to read the hand written colour designation.
I particularly like the tall crown on this one.

i have 3 hats like that here in Argentina are called Orion and still are produced. I have it in black, gray and brown.
Like Steve, said: not a vintage hat, but probably made by Tonak in the Czech republic. They were once the Hückel hat factory and still hold most of the Hückel brand rights. Post-war the Hückel family restarted in West-Germany to produce some wonderful hats there, but they closed for good in 1975.Greetings! I just purchased a black homburg from eBay. I'm not 100% sure if it's vintage or not but I'm attaching the pictures from the listing so maybe someone can provide information regarding that. Also, I'm aware that there was a Hückel hat company. I'm not sure if it still exists but I've read about them before. This hat says "Hückel Quality" on the sweatband but there is no indication on the lining of a company. Anyone have any ideas on if this is a real Hückel hat or if it's just made using similar techniques or materials? I can of course provide more photos once I've received the hat if that would help.
P.S. I believe the shield on the liner suggests it was made in the Czech Republic, so probably a Tonak made hat.

I recently acquired this 40s St. Regis in a medium gray. You may have noticed I'm selling my Knox. It's because these are virtually the same color-wise and this St. Regis has a little wider brim.

How did I miss this one before? That's a great hat and a nice find, Bill.First time wearing this 40s St. Regis. By the look of the sweatband and liner this might be it's maiden voyage.
