24" p2p sierra sportswear. I would nab this if it were an inch longer in the body and two in the sleeves. Love the french cuffs. BIN $400
Thanks for your help again, Pandemic! I think I would like to be able to wear a light sweater under it, too--so maybe too small? I'll ask for better pictures with measurements, too.Imagine a heavy jacket that you can pinch at each armpit and get .5 inches of leather between your fingers. It’s a very slim, t-shirt only fit, but might be what you are after. I don’t believe it has 19” shoulders so I would ask him to remeasure from seam to seam. The length sounds about right for you, but compare to a jacket that you own
Thank you for this thoughtful reply. I will definitely ask for better pics and measurements. More generally speaking--assuming it fits, for example--would this be a good starter jacket, in your view?I would not go for this personally without asking for better photos unless $350 were not a lot of money to me. The chest measurement provided might be 20 inches, but I can't be sure from that photo. It actually looks more like 20.5. That photo is too inexact for my taste and besides that, pit-to-pit measurements are normally taken on the outside of the jacket, which takes into account the leather density.
So even if this interior measurement photo is right, the chest might be more like 42 inches when measured in the standard manner, which I would think is much too big for what you describe as your desired fit.
Thanks again! I will do that!Oh jeez! I missed that funky p2p measuring style.
Yeh, disregard any stated measurements and ask him to take pics measuring properly. There are lots of online guides around on how to measure outerwear
Yes, I do believe it would be a good starter jacket. Steerhide is a good choice for a first jacket and CXL steer has a solid reputation.Thank you for this thoughtful reply. Hi Lost Cowboy! I'm sorry for my slow reply (work took over these last couple of days)--your response here is incredibly helpful! I appreciate knowing that this jacket might be a good first jacket. I also appreciate your insights about the size. I would not have expected that a size 36 might be too big!Yes, I do believe it would be a good starter jacket. Steerhide is a good choice for a first jacket and CXL steer has a solid reputation.
However, given your stated body measurements, I believe this jacket will swallow you up. It has 24 inch sleeves with open cuffs (no way to stop them at the wrists) - those would be too long for me (depending on the shoulder width) and I am two inches taller than you. For your first jacket, try to get one that fits you very well.
To do this, measure a jacket you already have that you really really like and look for similar measurements.
Also, even though shipping and tariff charges will be around $50 from Japan, Japan has tons of jackets for sale on eBay in the 34 and 36 sizes and they are usually pretty darn cheap. Meaning, this $350 jacket is not your only option. Lots of CXL steerhide options from Aero coming out of Japan and lots of really great smaller-sized Vansons and Schotts.
Not sure if this helps but it's what I'm thinking for you. Good luck!
I would ask the seller for measurements as I imagine that there were a few different makers over the years.Any thoughts on this jacket? Do these Sears jackets fit true to size?
Expensive for what it is. There are other brands at a better price. Personally, I like Reeds. I found that most vintage CR tend to run 1 size smaller.Any thoughts on this jacket? Do these Sears jackets fit true to size?
I agree a bit expensive, though if it’s what you like and fits you I can’t imagine regretting it. Looks to be on very good condition.Any thoughts on this jacket? Do these Sears jackets fit true to size?
That is a cool design
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. I doubt it. Label on the inside lining says "A Taste of Leather." Or could have been subcontracted from Johnson Leathers or Mr. S. Leathers. Definitely not made in Germany.https://ebay.us/m/qGJz1P Is this jacket a Taubers CR?
