This is an incredible jacket, size 40 or so. Any thoughts on the maker? $500 OBO

I rec'd the jacket this morning and it's as the Bay seller stated... in very nice condition. I bounce around between 210 and 225 and as of this morning was 225.8; she's a bit of a sausage casing. When I first put an arm through I thought 'uhoh, this could be a problem'. I tried it on at the post office and don't need to look in a mirror to know that this 46 will be somewhere close to right at 210 and very close to wrong at 225. Deerskin jackets are unstructured so I'll wait until the fit is closer to what Thurlow had intended and then toss a fit pic up.

This is the first deerskin jacket I've bought and it is amazingly soft and supple. The polar opposite of any FQHH in my closet. When I tossed it in the truck to drive away from the post office it naturally assumed the form of other stuff in the passenger seat.

First thing this morning I was working in the woods wearing a pair of Sullivan Leather deerskin gauntleted gloves. It was Sullivan that was making the gloves that Thurlow sold years ago. I recall roughly 1980 a friend had been buying and wearing Thurlow gloves and made a big deal about how he'd trace an outline of his hand and Thurlow would apply their voodoo and a perfect set of gloves made just for him would magically arrive. My guess is that Thurlow would receive the outline of his hand and call from San Diego, CA to Bend, OR to tell Sullivan 'yeah, send us a pair of mediums'.

Roughly 20 years ago Sullivan acquired the patterns that Thurlow wanted their gloves cut to... or so I'd heard.

I'll drop that 15 before month's end. Pics then.

I keep looking at this jacket. I do not know the maker, but it doesn't matter much. The jacket looks to be in a heavy hide, probably horsehide. The adornments are some of the most tastefull I have seen. The side zipper is unusual, not sure if it is a pocket, or side adjusment. This shows up on other jackets from the late 40s early 50s.

I know that hide is amazing and the adornments are incredible. It's a special jacket for sure and just needs the right sized owner.

It’s a Sierra Sportswear made by Silton
