To be honest I don't like the way waiting time is used to hype the brand or the product. It just means that there is demand.
I don't think having a long waiting time is a measure of quality, it just means that you have a long queue because you're a one man operation and can't do all the work needed in a sensible time due to the limitations of being a single Staff member. In the end it means that the time spent doing leatherwork is not as high as it could be because he is also replying emails, taking photos, sharing photos, etc.
I hope he just closes the list when the waiting time gets close to 1 year...that's a lot of time. Don't want to repeat JC mistakes.
Agreed. For a one man operation, having slots is absolutely essential. Pretty much every artist that sells their work online will periodically open 10 or so empty slot on the first come, first served basis and that's it until the next batch. Even Ship John does it (though in their case, it can only be a marketing stunt as there's no way they couldn't put together as little as 1 of those Wills jackets per day).
Piling up orders is a road to TOJ and we all know how that turned out.
On a personal note, wait time immediately kills my interest. Not saying there's anything wrong with it and I can't even discern why would this be so, it ought not to be a problem for me since I'll just be browsing clothes anyway whilst waiting, but it's just something I am feeling very reluctant to commit myself to.
