I think since as has been established he is a 1 man band, he should have total oversight over quality control. It seems to me one of two things happened. Either he didn’t examine the jacket (unlikely) or he was aware of the questionable wobble and hoped you wouldn’t care. Neither version in my opinion is great. As mentioned any other maker would be taken strongly to task for what appears (and it may be a trick of the camera) to be poor stitching. The fact that he agreed to issue a refund or rebuild in my opinion is not Great customer service but just customer service. Also, now you lose several weeks of ownership waiting for a remake. I say this having been in your position with other small makers. These days I feel that too many makers are canonized because we like the idea of what they are doing regardless of what they are delivering.
Anyhow, not my horse in the race, just chatting on a rainy day.
I agree, but at the same time, what would had been great customer service in this case? What could had Greg done beyond what he offered other than explicitly saying his rebuild will skip the current queue?

Arrived

Will get it on for pic later
Awesome seeing the Litch here on the lounge, I really love the model and would love to try one out for myself sometime in the future :D

About the stitching, I personally wouldn't care at all, I may have the not so popular opinion that "errors" like those just make the jacket feel more "hand made" to me, as humans do make mistakes sometimes(I would maybe go and ask for a little refund ala Aeros blue tag jackets or similar) .

I do ofc understand the crowd that wants it to be perfect as it cost a lot of money, and we know Greg to be able to make it such, but for me personally it just add character :p

My 2 cents
Cheers!

ngl I agree with you. this has been bugging me bc at the end of the day, im not sure if that would bother me. I recently got my DHW western pioneer and tbh I did not scrutinize every stitch. i put it on right away and the fit was awesome and that sealed the deal. maybe this weekend Ill look over every stitch and button:)

Ive ridden it three times on my bike and the jacket fits and feels amazing!

on a side note i did consider one of his jackets a few years ago but I found his email response to be rather poor. he never got back to my last email irrc. One major reason I got the DHW was bc Kimura responded every single time. yes i know Greg is a one man team but not responding to an email bothers me more than that character stitching.

He used to have a woman who was working with him in the shop but then just stepped back to only replying emails on his behalf. I ignore if this is still the case nowadays, but well, sometimes you just have to send a reminder to these people if you want to see some movement.

That stitching would make my cdo explode
Personally I wouldn't mind the stitching not lining up at the sleeve seam, I don't think anyone would notice or care.

However, I would definitely mind the incorrect thread tension / missed stitches.

Greg doesn't sew each and every jacket himself, he has help from Toni (a former Aero colleague). Looking at the construction quality of this jacket, I don't think it was made by Greg.

Both examples of Field's/DH I've handled has been perfect when it comes to construction as far as I can se, but to be honest I've never taken the time to go through each and every stitch of any jacket I owned.

As long as they fit the way I want, and there is no direct damage visible, I'm a happy camper :D

Also, I love the Western Pioneer/type 3 pattern! very good choice mate

Thank you! It is starting to be my fav jacket so far. Short enough and slim enough yet not restrictive (surprisingly) on the bike, given there are no gussets or footballs or action back etc.

I have to admit given ABCD's evidence (zoomed in though) those stitching do look terrible :(

I think I was one of the first to receive a Litchfield. Mine was spot on, though I ended up returning it as it arrived shortly after finding out my wife is pregnant and I’m having to genuinely stick to a budget now with these things.

I did find the return process a little frustrating as I had to chase the initial email and then the money. Not the end of the world, and once I chased I got the refund reasonably quickly, but I don’t think I’m the right customer for these one-man-band makers.
