Tragic indeed, that in almost forty years of life Anna Nicole Smith didn't accomplish a thing except controversy, litigation, chaos and, finally destruction. Her comparisons to Marilyn Monroe are extreme indeed. If Marilyn had done only one film in her life ('Misfits') her accomplishments and achievements would still be far beyond those of anything of Anna Nicole Smith. What's tragic about this, is her wasted life and the ruined lives of her children. God save that new baby from a similar despairing life!

Anna Nicole Smith

The papers are still full of it here and this afternoon the missus was watching the tragic life story on cable. Beautiful looking in that classic tarty way but how did she fit so much into one life? A long way from Texas.....

It is quite sad. I know she was often the media's laughing stock, but back when she first became famous she was really a beautiful woman. She was proof to the weight-obsessed morons of modern pop culture that women didn't have to be rail skinny to be gorgeous. When she first appeared on the scene, she looked like a pinup painting come to life. I always thought it dumb that people talked about how she "got fat" - she was never even remotely close to skinny when she was at her peak. That she was "skinny and hot, then got fat" is a complete lie.

Post-TrimSpa & diet, I always thought she had lost way too much weight. She looked very unhealthy. Skinny is not what Anna Nicole was all about. This was a woman who remarked, at her peak, that her diet was "fried chicken" - I remember reading something about her post-TrimSpa that she said she didn't even like to eat anymore. That is sad. Then, of course, her son's death, which is a tragedy nobody should have to live through...and now this.

What a sad life. I feel really bad for her daughter - to grow up without a mom.

Rest in peace, Vicki.

I remember seeing the ads and thought she was a great looking model. She had "It" without having to try.
I am repulsed by the media slobs and their feeding frenzy over her unfortunate death.

I rented Naked Gun 33 1/3 the day before.

The day before James Brown died, I got tickets to see him live in the month following.

I feel somewhat responsible now.

So who's next on your hit list, Jack? ;)

I know I'm terrible, but I'm dying to see the photos of 90 year old Zsa Zsa Gabor with her new step-daughter and her husband, the 62 year old faux prince. It will definitely top the Liza Minelli-David Gest-Michael Jackson-Liz Taylor wedding day photos.

I don't mean to sound mean, but I feel she was responsible for the life that she lead, and the consequences. She did not in any way fit my vision of female beauty.

I feel bad for her daughter, as this is a baby who may or may not move on to more suitable parents than her mother would have been. I hope to God she does get better parenting than that.

That's exactly right. She was, of course, responsible for most of the things in her life (clearly outside factors have influence - the vehement unreasonableness of her husband's family, for one - so she can't be held responsible for everything).

My only gripe is the hand wringing of the media. Hypocrites, every one of 'em.

She had something. But it wasn't "it." Not unless you spell "it" with a capital T.
:D

I like that she made it OK to be a big gal. She wasn't ever going to try and be some size 2 runway rat, or even size 10.

She did, however, go from extreme to extreme. First she was the airbrushed Playboy doll, then when she got real, she went trashy and lurid (and at the same time, stopped taking her clothes off). Meh.

I'm somewhat taken back. This thread has gotten more traffic than the thread RIP: GERALD FORD.

WOW

I think it's because the late President Ford was well liked and there wasn't much controversy surrounding him. He died a peaceful, natural death with his family where as the late Ms. Smith collapsed in a hotel room from drugs a la Marilyn Monroe.

...and now a web operator is offering T-shirts designs bidding farewell to her, saying : "I fathered Anna Nicole's baby and all I got was this stupid T-shirt"...

Honestly.

Now that's just pushing it. Even the people who now mock the death of Steve Iwrin at least waited a few months. Of course, Stever Iwrin was a much better person than Ms. Smith.

I never paid much attention to her, but I never heard that she was a 'bad' person. My impression was that she was actually sort of sweet and gentle. I'd have more respect for her as a mom than Joan Crawford.

It's been said that her husband , Mr. Marshall, was of diminished capacity. It's interesting that she evolved to that same state. Karma?
