Stumbled across this link looking for something else online. A set of photos of criminal mugshots from Newcastle Upon Tyne (for those unfamiliar with England's geography, that's up in the NE corner of the country - traditionally regarded as a very working class area, once heavily industrialised). Some fantastic 1930s wardrobe looks, representative of what the working classes wore in those days. Interesting too to note that back then it was thought worthwhile to capture how these guys looked in a hat or cap - not something you'd see in a 2024 set of mugshots. Couple of examples:

I love this guy's knitwear:

The long lost Gallagher brother?

If they ever make a movie about this guy, he should be played by Paul McGann:

Really interesting, do you know what is meant by "Comp" in these? They all seem to be fresh.

Also this really reminds me of the 1920s mugshots from Australia that were popular online for a little while.

Most of them are wearing suits or similar.

Another one with the full write up of Leslie "Squizzy" Taylor, he had a show about him. Pretty similar to the English ones, they even chose to capture him in a hat as well.

"Comp" is short for complexion.
