Have you considered something like the below linked jacket? It’s nearly a field jacket

View attachment 500041 Selling this beautiful Wills which was a strictly limited run 2 years ago and sold out after minutes. I was lucky enough to secure one. I haven’t worn it a lot but it’s started to break in nicely, the leather is just amazing and the weight of this jacket is incredible, stands up by itself. Jacket is in fantastic condition. I paid $1600 for it and since this jacket may never be made again according to Ship John, that’s what I’d like to recoup. Any questions, let me know. Size is a Large Long, measurements as follows in cm:

55 chest
68 sleeves
72 length from back
55 waist
Shoulders 47

It's a funny thing, trying to get a leather jacket for field-use
I would say it depends a lot on the cut of the jacket and the leather. I can very well imagine soft deerskin, goat in roughout or suede. In terms of style, like a welder's jacket or N-1 or something like that.

This is an epic, epic, jacket - and buckskin! I can't tell you how much I appreciate the expertise on this forum - I would never in a million years have found this jacket had you not posted it. Love at first sight, it exactly fits the "ethos" I'm going for. Wrote them for a quote!

Very cool.
This is exactly the jacket I had in mind when you described your use case.
Fingers crossed that it works out. I'm also strongly considering it. I would even part with one or two of my jackets for that ;)

First pint is on me if you ever come through the Baltic states here in Eastern Europe, or if I pass through wherever you are I can't believe it; I'm even going to save up and get a full deerskin dress suit made, because, of course I will ;) Will keep you all posted, and will start a new thread when (not if!) I get it!

Well I’ll see MrPropers suggestion and raise you the following

:)

Oh, we're on a track! I dreamt last night that gerberei-kolesch.de, the company MrPropper suggested, refused to ship, because it didn't fit with their jacket making philosophy, but they would make me a jacket if I came down to Germany--so then I spent the rest of the dream calculating how much it would cost, and if I would have the time :D If it turns out to be true, this is a great runner up!

If you do, make sure you shout out! Maybe we. An do a group trip down there. It’s a beautiful part of the country, only pretty remote.

I know them. Manufactum stores stock them, so it’s pretty easy to get a first hand impression. I am sure craftsmanship is great (and so are the leathers), but I am not totally sold on the overall style.
Yeah, that’s a good spot to try them on.

I’ve an A2 in horse hide from them. Was reduced on their website, I think it was a pattern test. Called the shop to check details and chatted with the owner for a good while. I ordered the jacket online after the chat. The shipped invoice was for 300 less than the price on the web. Nice first exchange.

The jacket itself is really well made. It’s not as fitted as I would like but I guess that could be down to a combination of the style and the bellies many in the customer profile may have. I hadn’t worn it much as my HWM just looked snazzier. Recently it’s been my go to. The extra room makes it more comfortable and I’ve been able to wear some fairly thick layers.

If I were to get a new one from them, like the one I linked above, I would definitely visit the shop in Cologne. They do a level of customization and will take your measurements at the shop. One could probably also request minor changes, like flaps over the pockets or similar.
