I'm just hoping that indeed Carnivale DOES return to HBO, if only for a full length movie special or something like that. I'd love to see a new season, but such is the life of rumors that I don't hold out much hope...
I heard from a friend out in LA that there's talk of reviving Carnivale as a series on HBO. I'm sure these kinds of rumors pop up from time to time about a lot of shows, but just thought I'd see if anyone on the forum has heard this or any other good gossip related to the show....
Anyone?
The most un-vintage thing about me is my love of science fiction and gadgets. Then I saw Bladerunner with its homage to noir and it all came together for me.
Just placed my pre-order on Amazon. It was listed as being released in December of this year. Two versions; The "Ultimate Edition" and the four disc version, both released at the same time. The Ultimate is the same as the four disc, just dressed up with more packaging and twice the price.....
Stephen Hunter wrote the book Point of Impact on which the movie Shooter was loosely based. Of course the book was MUCH better. I really wish the producers had retained Bob Lee Swagger's southern heritage.
You owe it to yourself to read the books and those based on the character of Bob...
I'm not so sure it was exaggerated. I spoke to my uncle, a former regional VP of the old AT&T in NY and who was himself considered progressive back in the day, and he said that he really felt for the women in the 50's-60's because the sexism was pretty blatant and rude especially the higher up...
I watched it with my girlfriend and we really got a kick out of it. My girlfriend is such a strong, independent woman ( headed up her own ad agency for years), that I couldn't resist heckling her with the sexism we were hearing from the show.
*Sigh* Those were the days....;-)
I'll duck now!
Mad Men
Tonight on AMC is the premiere episode of Mad Men, a new series about advertising taking place in New York during the 50's.
My Tivo is programmed, how 'bout yours?
Hemingway, regarding your earlier post about the title of the bio, I'm wondering if you're versed in mythology...ICARUS flew too close to the sun, and his wings melted and he fell to earth. The analogy with Finch-Hatton makes mythological sense.
