I don't have a hair dryer unfortunately. However, I have noticed that I can make it softer by rubbing it in my hands. Are there other ways to heat it without a hair dryer?

Art of Manliness is a good website, I actually read there quite a bit before coming here. Gentleman's Gazette looks pretty interesting, and I assume they have much better information on clothes than Art of Manliness.

    What are you listening to?

Those seem pretty interesting, do they play any Lawrence Welk or Glenn Miller? Too bad you can't listen to them in your car.

Here I am using both Murray's and Brylcreem. If you were wondering, the headphones are going to my Ipod under my desk on a tray, playing Lawrence Welk and Glenn Miller at the time of the picture. Patrick Hall, that website seems pretty useful. Thanks for the link!

They just showed up. They all look like nice ties. I especially like the one which is orange and yellow in the top center. I was wondering, are you supposed to match your tie to your suspenders? How wide would you say the guys ties are in the two pictures?

Music suggestions 20's 30's big band & jazz?

While he isn't exactly swing, I highly recommend this Lawrence Welk CD. It has some pretty good songs on it in my opinion, and it has two polkas on it too. Unfortunately, it is on the short side, and only has 16 songs. But they are all good songs. I would also recommend Glenn Miller, but most...

It seems that the majority of the 40's ties were in the 4'' range. These two pictures from Wikipedia which seem to have bold look neckties.

Amusing quotes from people mis-dating you

I try for a late 30's to late 40's look. But I do try for a 40's look more.

I got my first gangster comment today. I went into the local UPS store, and the guy at the counter said the typical "You look sharp" comment, and I replied with a thanks. However, he continued "Now all you need is a tommy gun" and "You look like you are from the 1920's or the 1930's" I never...

I got some Murray's today (originally went to Walgreens to get Royal Crown, but they didn't have it, despite their website saying it was in stores). I like the smell, it smells like coconut a bit. It seems pretty hard to get out of the can however, but once I put it in my hair, I noticed it had...

4.5'' is my current homemade's width. At what inch does the tie stop getting thinner? I messed up my first homemade tie by using a modern scale for that.

I've been thinking about making another homemade necktie. How long and wide are the average late 40's bold look neckties? According to Wikipedia the average bold look tie was 48 inches long, by 5 inches wide, but I wanted to check here to be sure. How long from the tip of the wide part, is it...

What's something modern you won't miss when it becomes obsolete?

I have seem the opposite sometimes actually. They make it freezing cold, rather than hot. But I believe there are more hot restaurants than cold ones.
