What's something modern you won't miss when it becomes obsolete?

Popular music and synthesizers. Today's music is just horrible, and computers make it even worse. I only like genres from before 1965, so what I include good music, another might not. Barely any radio station plays old music/new music in old genres, so if you don't have a CD player, or an MP3...

    Tie clip / tie bar

When my grandfather passed away, I inherited this tie clip. I wear it daily, but occasionally I wear another tie clip. I believe it's vintage, and it says "Anson" on the back of it. I assume it's from about 1945-1970. If anyone knows when this specific tie clip is from, that would be useful.

    Spectator Shoes

These look nice, however, they aren't oxfords, but that doesn't really matter that much. A problem arises though, judging by the customer reviews, they apparently aren't shipping from America.

Where to find high waisted pants for under $75

I looked at both Dance Store and Morellos. Dance Store seems ok, but the problem with the pants there is that they are synthetic, not cotton/wool. Another problem there is that they appear to lack a fly. Morellos seems to be a good place to find retro clothes, but one major problem is that they...

Where to find high waisted pants for under $75

I have been looking for high waisted pants for under $75. I currently wear Dockers D4 pleated slacks, in khaki. They are higher waisted than my previous pants. However, they just aren't high enough. So I have a question: Do any companies make high waisted, wide legged, pleated, slacks for under $75?

    Spectator Shoes

It seems Aris Allen has "Raw Soles". It has a leather bottom, not felt. I am not a dancer, so I might be wrong, but I don't really see how much different they are from normal leather soles.

    Spectator Shoes

I actually found a pair of brown and white spectator shoes. However, there are two problems with them. First, they are dance shoes. I do not know if they would hold up to wear and tear of walking about. Second, they don't have my size. Not really that big a deal. I do not know if Aris Allen...

    Spectator Shoes

I have found a pair of spectator shoes like I described, but the top isn't white. If anyone has these shoes, can you please post a picture of them? I was wondering how light the top is, as there are conflicting images online. I am also wondering if the top is nubuck. I am actually surprised that...

    Spectator Shoes

There is only one pair of spectator shoes I know of that are sort of like what I want are these. There are several problems, however. They are too expensive for me, and they also have strange styling on the toe. It's quite hard, even with a high budget, to find new spectator shoes as I...

What Song Would You Like Played At Your Funeral.

I would pick my two favorite Carl Perkins songs. Jive After Five Rockin' Record Hop

    Spectator Shoes

I have been on a quest to find new spectator shoes which are brown and white, with a completely white top, like these. I have found reproduction spectator shoes, but they are unfortunately dance shoes. Many of the new ones have either terrible colors, pointy toes, odd perforation patterns, have...

What musical instrument do you play..?

I improvise Boogie Woogie/Rockabilly/Blues/Swing on the piano. Sadly, the piano I have is terrible. It's one of those "keyboards", with 60 keys. It has 375 voices, and I only use one. The rest all sound fake, and make no sense. I guess you can say I taught myself to play the piano. I used...

    Water Based Pomade specifically.

I used to use American Crew Pomade, but I stopped using it when I realized it had parabens in it. It worked well from what I remember. I personally use Brylcreem. I find it very good. You can use a little or a lot. Both look good. Sadly, it doesn't have the best hold. I have wavy hair, and it...

What's something modern you won't miss when it becomes obsolete?

"Euro" Headlights. I personally hate the asymmetrical headlights on cars these days.

    Let's see your mechanical watches

It's not vintage, and it isn't fancy. But is sure looks nice (to me at least). I got this watch at CVS for $9.99. This watch was a wonderful deal. I love the stretch band.

What's something modern you won't miss when it becomes obsolete?

There is one thing equally horrid with the skinny pants. Skinny Sport Coats. They are hideous. I refuse to even put a link to the hideous coats, but if you want to see them, just pay a little visit to the Amazon mens' sport coat section.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

Bench seats. The Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car all had semi-bench seats. They were the last cars to have them. They discontinued them in 2011.

What's something modern you won't miss when it becomes obsolete?

If there is one new thing I hate, it would be online job applications. I guess this also applies to Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime, but I think I will post it here instead. I will be very glad when they start offering offline job applications again, if they even do so. I...

Vintage Car Thread - Discussion and Parts Requests

My grandfather has a 1953 Packard Clipper. Its brakes are broken, and it hasn't been driven since the 70's. It's been sitting in his garage ever since. It's pastel green with a dark green roof. I can't take a picture of it though, as my grandfather lives in New Jersey.

    The DINER.

I knew I saw it somewhere before. We drive past Charlton sometimes. I saw it on the side of the road.
