Buying hats online is a very tricky business, and I've found straws to be particularly troublesome. Hats that look great in promotional shots often prove to be major disappointments. For the price range you mentioned, I'd strongly suggest Sunbody.com, especially their Fedora section. They're...
Very nice. Btw, I thought for a moment that American film director John Waters had joined the Lounge. I hope you don't mind my noticing it but the similarity is striking, right down to the moustache.
Sunbody Straw Hats. Solid straws that can take all kinds of abuse and won't get ruined by the occasional shower. Around $50.00 and they'll get it to you in a couple of days.
For a straw in a vintage style you might take a look at Peters Bros. custom hemps. They're very accommodating when it comes to styles. crown heights, brims, etc. I have three Stratoliner-style hemps, all in different colors. Art Fawcett's Milans can also be made in a fedora style, and he's a...
I'd have to say that the pics of my whiskey that were posted on the Instagram site didn't do justice to the rich, deep color of the hat that I received, so for me it was kind of the opposite. The other shots that were posted on this thread were fairly accurate, with perhaps the exception of the...
It's really funny to see some of the gaffes made by the clueless contributors on sites such as StyleForum. For example, I bought a pair of AE's Shelton Saddle shoes the other day, and when I Googled the same, just to look at some pictures of them, I came across a conversation about them on SF...
Funny, but until very recently I never saw cuffed jeans on this side of the Atlantic - at least, not since the 1950's. I always thought it was one of those things the Brits picked up and stayed with. What with selvedge jeans and all, I started doing it myself a few years back and have gotten...
Not long ago I was standing on a streetcorner waiting to cross, and a guy next to me said,"Wow, man, I'm really diggin' your hat!" It was the kind of compliment that had the subtext of, "Friggin' weird!" I thanked him and crossed the street thinking, "It's noontime on a sunny day in a tropical...
The couple of shirts I've gotten from them have all had very short tails, something I'm not fond of as I always tuck my shirts in (like a big boy, lol). Maybe these shirts were made by someone else?
I'd advise against it. A friend gave me a CR years ago that he'd cut the lining out of, and the feeling was so unpleasant I don't think I wore it more than twice. Awful.
That's always been a favorite design for me, and yours looks great on you. Wait'll you see what happens as it starts to break in. The brown HH can't be beat.
I just took delivery on a dark oak canvas blazer and must say that I'm fairly happy with it, with a few minor exceptions. Somewhat heavy canvas (too warm for this time of year in Miami), but the fit is perfect, though I think the sleeves might be shortened by 1/2 inch. The only problem with it...
