Hello and welcome!
That's a great jacket you've got there, packed with loads of cool details. I like the lining and the back design very much. Glad you've opted for the corduroy stripe on the bottom hem. Overall a very well thought out "first jacket".
The fit is very good as well! Now on to...
I have to agree with the others: Terrific looking jacket with a very good fit and lovely trousers which go really well with your Iron Rangers.
PS: Welcome to the lounge!
Look at the cut edge of the throat latch: Paler base colour with spray finish top coat. A clear sign of veg tanned skins.
A chrome tanned skin (if left undyed) would show a blue-white base colour due to the chrome salt tanning agents. Therefore most chrome tanned hides are drum dyed and pigment...
Aero will make M422as, A2s and civilian jackets up to size 40/42 (depending on model) out of goat. No 3/4 length jackets at the moment due to lack of larger hides.
The biggest skins are mainly reserved for one-piece A2 backs.
Aero goat:
- Ultra thick, sometimes twice as thick as G+B goat
- Vegetable tanned using quebracho and oak bark tannins which result in a light milk chocolate base colour of the leather
- Semi aniline seal spray finish on top which leaves a semi glossy slightly mottled appearance
- Due to...
Here you go:
(Nice jacket with great details and good fit by the way, although the picture would benefit from better lighting and better focus. Are those Aeros on the clothes rail?)
No. Seal brown is a spray finish colour which is usually (with Aero) only available in mid weight leathers. The jacket depicted is made from heavy brown Front Quarter Horsehide. It's not a solid brown because there is no pigment finish on this type of leather. The colour is sort of...
All Aero sheepskin jackets are made from fully grown merino sheep. Mouton or sheepskin from juvenile sheep is probably only used for collar trim etc.
A B3, B6, Irvin etc. need to have a robust and sturdy skin, lambskins would be too small and too fragile.
Thanks again fellas!
Edward you are absolutely right about the lack of WWII aura. The B-2 really is a good looking and well made jacket with lots of useful features...it just happened to enter service a decade too early!
I'm sure that Aero could bring it back to life if they wanted to. The BR...
Thanks everybody! I'm sure that BR is still making the B-2 but it doesn't seem to be a popular jacket. Eastman and HPA have both dropped this particular model for some unknown reasons. Maybe it has something to do with the Japanese grading. My jacket is a 40 and I currently have a 38.5 inch...
Hello everybody,
Today I’d like to post a little pictorial review of my Buzz Rickson’s B2. Since these are quite rare and good pictures are hard to find especially on non-Japanese sites I’ve decided to take a couple of detail shots to give you an impression of how a BR is constructed.
First of...
The Air Comfort might be exactly what you are looking for. It's a well made jacket which is trimmer fitting than Aero's 50s Bomber Jacket which was brought to the market as an A2 alternative for more portly built individuals...
Also there shouldn't be a long wait period with Eastman as most of...
