I always had a soft spot for vintage styled quality work boots and during the last decade I must have had at least 6 pairs of RedWings and two pairs of Alden 405s.
Somehow I totally missed White's, Wesco and Viberg as those brands don't have many retailers in Germany (if any).
A couple of years...
Great result! The Sierra sole goes well with the remaining Christy wedge. I like the contrast between the new sole unit and the well worn uppers. The boot looks quite comfortable as well!
BTW: I can tell that you wear a lot of dry denim with your Red Wings...
A size 46 Highwayman should fit even the most portly built individuals. It's quite boxy and generously cut!! I'm 6ft, 39 inch chest, 155lbs and a size 38 chest. I tried on aHighwayman a while ago and it was too wide for my taste...
The B-6 is slightly waisted and has a very trim fit. Search for Gancho's B-6 on the lounge.
I agree that Aero's D-1 is not very boxy and roomy but compared to their B-6 it is. The B-6 almost fits like a slighltly roomier and thicker sheepskin Cafe Racer.
Scott, great looking jacket in one of Aero's most expensive skins. I really like the Bronco pattern. It's comfortable and slightly longer fitting but also trimmer and sharper looking than the 42-15142P which is too blousy for my taste. The fit is really good and the boots and the cargo pants are...
See for yourself. It's not an original RW design but I quite like the model. Sort of a budget 405...
The RW 9030 features a couple of nice details I like to see on semi-dress boots:
- Full leather lining
- Stacked leather heel
- Rubber half sole over leather sole
- Quality uppers (Horween...
36 sounds right for you. I'm 6ft tall, weigh 155lbs /75 kg and I have a 38.5 inch chest. My 68 Dale is a size 38 and it is a very good fit with enough room for layering. A 38 would be too wide and most likely too long for you.
Hope that helps.
Size 40L for a sharp military fit, size 42L for a very relaxed fit with a lot of room for layering. My father has a true 42 inch chest (at almost 6 ft.) and takes a 40 R which fits perfect. Still enough room for a shirt and woolen jumper...
This size recommendation is for vintage peacoats...
I can only recommend to get a vintage Kersey peacoat. Neither the Schott nor the Sterlingwear are badly put together ....but comparing one of those to a mint condition vintage one is like comparing apples and pears.
The quality of workmanship, the cloth, the real bakelite buttons everything...
Nissle, welcome to the forum! I very much agree with what Tadite said about sizing. If you take a 9 in RW Beckmans or Iron Rangers I would recommend size 9 or 9.5 in the Moctoes. The removable insole is a quite thick and padded one which would also be suitable for running shoes as they have some...
The choice is up to you. Both no longer have the tan corduroy pockets but cream coloured flanel pockets. There shouldn't be much difference in construction. My Dale is very well put together with a lot of attention to detail. A coat constructed the way this baby is would cost a couple of hundred...
Hi Kristofer,
at your given measurements you will have to buy a 38.
Here's my vintage '68 Dale, size 38. My measurements 6ft/ 184cm, 160lbs/78kg (at the time, now less), 39 inch chest.
Enough room for layering:
Close fit when buttoned up:
Make sure that yours is free of moth bites and...
While browsing the offerings of the usual supects I found two pictures of Aero's Indy Jacket which the German dealer calls "1981 Indypendent".
The pics show it in Aero's older style oil-pull horsehide. I'm sure that it's available in various choices of leather. I'm not a huge fan of...
Not entirely sure about Olli's jacket. There was some length added to the jacket for sure but I don't know how much. Olli went to Scotland about 2 years ago and visited the factory. Will measured him personally and they put his data on file. When he returned home he simply ordered that jacket...
A size 44 long would probably be large enough... but the 38-1711 is without doubt a very trim fitting model. Much trimmer and closer fitting than the Bronco. If it was my future jacket I would even add 1.5 inches to the back length as this contract is also very short as well.
How much do you...
Hello Gents,
here are a couple of pictures of my cherished Thorogood 6" Moc Toes. I like them much better than the ubiquitous Red Wing 8138/8131. They feature a true double stitched construction with reverse storm welt and padded and rolled top.
Recently I had new soles fitted but instead...
Great coat, perfect fit, dead on sleeve length, corduroy pockets and loads of style - what more could you ask for?
Good pictures as well!
Are those boots Iron Rangers? If so they look well worn in. Nice match for your coat!!
