Quality dry cleaning should do all that! But go for a full service...not the budget treatment some offer.
Any chance to leave the coat in sunlight for while?
Thanks Peacoat and Grayland. I'm afraid my sewing skills aren't good enough for leather garment.
Grayland, the Gloverall is a size 38 and still quite generous. Chestwise I could pull off a 36 but the sleeves would be too short then...
Hello everybody,
last week I had a bit of time at my hand during evenings and I decided I would try my (poor) sewing and leather skills at something substantial and robust in my collection of jackets.
Not too long ago I'd seen a Nigel Cabourn modification on a peacoat which then had leather...
Evenly wet the sleeves with a spray bottle and warm (distilled/demineralized) water. Once they are soaked stretch the leather gently but steadily. You should be able to get about an inch of extra length from that. Let the sleeves air dry the stretch them from time to time while they are drying...
Rudie, what a great jacket! And you got it off German ebay? I always get a blocked page when something is described as WWII era or similar...
I would love to own one of those! How much did you pay? And what's your size if I may ask?
Heavily inspired by the best mission patch in the world...:D
The patch lacks the crews attitude towards the mission which should be "Soon to be alone and very afraid."
Thanks, I've already bookmarked that link. The male model very much looks like Dietmar Bär don't you think?
BTW: Here's my Blacksheep after some modification I carried out:
Before, with horn toggles:
After, with Aero horn buttons and contrast stitching and additional throat fastening...
Great cardigan! I love it! It's a great match for the rest of your attire and it goes particularly well with dry denim! Good pictures too.
May I ask who made it for you and how much paid for it?
Jerky seal hh is an excellent option. It's grainy with a lovely base colour, seal spray finish and a clear aniline finish on top. Much better than their super smooth but "dead" smooth hh. Jerky seal is a quite thick leather but it is very pliable and comfortble right out of the box.
Aero's new...
Great cardi! I like the lighter shade a lot. If you find the wool too oily or the smell reminds you of a barn full of sheep give the it a handwash with hair shampoo. Get the water out by gently pressing the cardigan while wrapped in a big towel or use a spin dryer. Then reshape it and let it air...

Handmade, heavy and super durable.
Here's my shawl collar cardigan made by blacksheep. The wool is undyed btw
I love the Tweed jacket and the Sugar Cane vest! Your whole attire is smashing but the jacket and the waistcoat are absolutely adorable! Well picked and well composed picture.
BTW: Is the RL jacket from the RRL product range?
Great jacket and even greater pictures. And although the insignia on the left sleeve clearly indicates that we've reached the atomic age I very much like the rural setting of these pictures. Well done!
Yesterday by the lake:
Wearing:
Vintage Dale US Navy Peacoat, White's/Hathorn Ranch Farmer, Pike Brothers heavy duck/canvas Hunting Pant, Lee 101 chequered western shirt, chunky and warm muffler made from brown undyed yak wool.
The Hathorns/White's are generously cut but by no means oversized. Probably the cobblers at White's expect you to wear thicker boot socks with your shoes and their sizing incorporates that.
But they are certainly not as oversized as some Red Wings tend to be. In RW Iron Rangers and 1908...
