The sweatband may be falling out, and the liner may be a bit funky, but the color and proportions (short brim but not stingy) are something I love, and it just fits so well.
The pictures are pre-cleaning and steaming.
We've been in Virginia for the past couple of days. In Madison county, we visited the big old antique store in an old wood building. It was the kind where junk is stacked to the ceilings and bargains can be found. Just as we were leaving, I noticed a rack of clothes. Going through it, it was the...
I found this at an antique mall in Chattanooga for $25.
No union label, but it's skeleton lined in a midweight wool. It has a great medium grey color with a blue windowpane pattern.
The sleeves are cuffed, and the buttons are hidden under a flap.
Made by Curlee clothes.
As I've mentioned here before, my dad, in his younger, hippie days (long hair, the works) used to be into vintage clothes. A lot of older family members gave him '30s hats and suits (and he's a short skinny guy, so it fit him :rage: ), and vintage was easier to find then. He's told me of the...
I just saw this down at the American Film Institute. What an amazing festival, and a cool film to see on the big screen.
My favorite performers in it were Otis Redding and Janis Joplin. What stage presence.
Here's another one that came a while ago that I never got around to posting. This one is going to be swapped into the collection in exchange for my Resistol San Antonio. I don't need two silverbelly open road style hats, and this one is so much nicer.
It's a Custom made beaver 50. The felt...
I'm having a triple feature with some friends in a couple days. The movies are set, but I can't decide on what order to play them in. No one else at this thing has seen them, and I want to keep their interest. Any thoughts?
the movies are:
Fargo
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
The Big Lebowski
My...
This one's light as a feather, and shapes so well. It has a 5 point bash, and a pleated ribbon. Hefty brim curl in the rear. Overwelt with stitching that does not go through the bottom of the brim.
Well- some of you may remember this one, but I got an odd sort of flat topped homburg a few moths back.
and I've been doing a bit of research on it; found a couple on the bay.
I found one that was identical, and this one, which looks '60s by the sweat and liner, in yellow and green.
and...
I really know a lot more about felt than I do about straw, and I really don't know much about panamas, but I saw this one up on the bay, it's my size, and as there were no other bidders, I snagged it.
The brim looks really wide in these shots, I'm not sure how big it actually is, but it looks...
I got this in a lot of porkpies the other day. The rest were either too big or too small, but this one is a keeper for sure. I'm trying to keep my personal collection manageable, so I'm switching it in, in exchange for one of my first hats, a modern summer scala porkpie (which isn't really all...
I got this one today, and I'm impressed. The felt is great and the styling is classic (you gotta love that wide black band). The sweatband is actually wider than the ribbon, and the liner has a style of pleating I've never seen before. There's nothing about it that I don't like. Fits like a...
hey- I decided to pull the trigger and get myself some vintage shirts. All my shirts that I've been wearing have been from costco- hardly vintage or vintage looking. So I was browsing ebay, and found these two. Figured that for the price, I'd give them a shot. They were both buy it now. The...
There's a program which google offers for free called sketchup. It's a 3D architectural modeling program, and it's lots of fun. Anyway, here's some things I've designed on it. What do you think of the designs I've come up with?
This one's the only one which is...
I managed to win this last night. I love the band.
Listed kind of odd.
Maybe it's a hat you wear when hunting Indiana Jones? When is Indy season, anyway? I don't know, but I like it.
