I mostly associate the Golden Age in general with the Golden Age of Hollywood, which most agree spanned from the end of the Silent era in the late '20s through the decline of the studio system in the early '60s.
For me, the Golden Age is a refuge from the politically correct chaos and...
In answer to the original question: . . . In my mind, the Golden Age officially ended when the Space Age/Race began.
As to my favorite Bond, Roger Moore was my to introduction Bond in the Mid-'70s, when I discovered the series. So by default he will always be the initial Bond in my mind...
Ah yes, Dietz is another great painter. I like the way his work always focuses more on the people surrounding the aircraft than the planes themselves. Adds a real human element to it all.
Thanks, DH!
Here's a photo (below) of the Gene Autry shirt that my shirt above is supposed to be a copy of. Not an exact reproduction but "inspired" for sure. The light fabric of his looks more tan than off-white, and the piping of his looks golden where on mine it's red.
Tonight as Crunk Manor: My mother-in-law's fantastic homemade chili (no beans, just beef, tomatoes, onions, and . . . mushrooms!). Honestly the very best chili I've ever eaten. Served with homemade mexican cornbread.
Thanks Godfrey and Nick123, for the nice compliments. If you found deviantart.com, then you have already found some of my other work on my page there. I have a few more examples of my aviation art up there, but most of that stuff I sold years ago. I do however accept commissions if there's...
By the way, any of you tailoring types on here know anything about those old chain-stitch embroidery machines and where I might pick one up fairly cheap?
I'd have to say Robert Taylor probably leads the pack in my mind. His painterly style and impeccable draftsmanship can't be beat.
I did a series of WWII aviation paintings myself a few years back. Combining my love of vintage aircraft and art, I figured I'd have a go at the genre. Here's one...
Here's one of your's truly in one of my very first Western outfits taken when I was 4 or 5 years old (I guess that would make it vintage now). My mother took me to have my portrait made and she had brought along a suit for me to I change into, but I insisted on the cowboy outfit. The...
I have a few vintage style western shirts from Rockmount and Scully. This one is also a Rockmount reproduction of a Gene Autry shirt, from the '30s I think. I bought it several years ago and have never taken it out of the plastic.
Love the Gene Autry repro . . . I think I've seen the original in one of the Western wear books I have. I have two good picture books on vintage Western style: How The West Was Worn, and Hillbilly Hollywood.
I'm like you, DH. I love this stuff and would like to see this thread active again.
In the storyline of this movie, CLOUD DANCER starring David Carradine, there is a P-51 with working guns that someone is using to force down drug planes along the US/Mexican border. A very cheesy but entertaining film, especially if you like aerobatic stunt flying.

I posted this video in the "What are you listening to?" thread several days ago. I love it and think it's much better than the original version. Kate Davis has a wonderful voice that recalls those 1940s song stylings perfectly.
I need a bit of help/advice in the suit department. I purchased a suit a few months back that is a fairly close modern interpretation of Bogart's three-piece Navy Pinstripe from Dark Passage. I'm just getting around to having it hemmed this week and I'm trying to figure out what size to make...
You know you're getting old when you go into an ice cream parlor and the kid behind the counter refers to black walnut as the old-person flavor because, "Only old people order that one."
MAKING A BOW TIE OUT OF A REGULAR TIE . . . Not a proper bow tie, but interesting none-the-less.
