Akubra, sand colour.
"Sand" is pretty much what you want it to be. Ie the brilliant white sands of the Florida panhandle beaches, to the commoner beige sands almost everywhere to the black volcanic sands of some of the pacific islands. -

Giant Pith Helmet Thread of Doom
My idea of an ideal light double would be a 38-55 or possibly a 405 Win loaded light. I know neither is British, but at least brass is readily available. A 22 Hornet could be fun but it might be a bit on the heavy side for the caliber. -

My DAO, double action only semi auto might or might not fire., depending on room available for the bobbed hammer to move. I doubt if the slide would cycle for a second shot. Nope! The wrong solvent for shellac. For shellac you need alcohol, petroleum based solvents do not work. -

Man, I do not want to try and carry my ultra compact 45's in a jacket pocket. The Para Ordanance, double action only, has a totally smooth hammer, no hammer spur that can be manually cocked, but the 1911 frame is just too squarish for pocket carry. It's fine for an inside the waistband carry...- jkingrph

I e mailed Art on Sat, Feb 11, and got a reply the next day it was "on the block". My son called and wants to meet us next month, so I e mailed Art yesterday so he would not ship for delivery the middle of March and I get a reply this morning that the hat will be going out this this week... -
Brim Cutters {Home made}
Looks about as simple and low tech as it could be. Just make different length blocks to clamp in for different width brims. Basically the same as the rounding jack except not as easily adjustable. -

Freightpilot, you make a lot of excellent and valid points and I find I agree with all. Down here in E Texas, we have to carry concealed, no open carry allowed. The cooler months when I can wear a jacket or vest, I usually carry one of the compact 45's, a Kimber ultra carry or Para Ordance...- jkingrph
