"Sand" is pretty much what you want it to be. Ie the brilliant white sands of the Florida panhandle beaches, to the commoner beige sands almost everywhere to the black volcanic sands of some of the pacific islands.
I was ready to buy one of those little CZ rifles when I was in Clarks shop outside of Shreveport some years back and found a consignment gun, a pretty little Winchester 52b reproduction. I put one of the small Leupold 4x Rimfire scopes on it. It's probably the most accurate rifle I have, but...
Best call before going, I looked on their web site and they do not have all sizes!
I notice your location as "The Swamp". I have a couisn who lives in Priareville. His wife inherited a camp from her parents down in Pierre Part, and there is a lady who lives there and commutes to Baton Rouge...
My idea of an ideal light double would be a 38-55 or possibly a 405 Win loaded light. I know neither is British, but at least brass is readily available.
A 22 Hornet could be fun but it might be a bit on the heavy side for the caliber.
Not nearly as tall as our typical Fedoras, but ok. I got it for the price/quality balance and it's a nice looking little hat. I plan on using it on some of the hotter summer days to save my nicer Panamas from sweat stains, saving them for evening wear or cooler days.
I did locate the Panama...

A smaller western wear chain here in E Texas.
I just got one a couple of weeks ago before the sale price hit.
I started with some of the venelated Tilley hats and got positive comments never associated with "baseball caps" so quickly gravitated to dress fedora's. The most positive comments I have received have been from girls young enough to be granddaughters!
Put it on, wear it and don't think...
One of Art's new Hitchhiker models, with a 1"brown ribbon hatband.
He had my measurments so I had it in about 10 days after ordering. In fact he sent it out before receiving payment. It arrived with no invoice and when I emailed him, he had sent a paypal invoice to my old address, the one I...
My DAO, double action only semi auto might or might not fire., depending on room available for the bobbed hammer to move. I doubt if the slide would cycle for a second shot.
The little S&W DAO revolver with a totally enclosed hammer, not shrouded but totally enclosed, would fire reliably for...
Man, I do not want to try and carry my ultra compact 45's in a jacket pocket. The Para Ordanance, double action only, has a totally smooth hammer, no hammer spur that can be manually cocked, but the 1911 frame is just too squarish for pocket carry. It's fine for an inside the waistband carry...
Good advice. A few years back when I was in the reserve I took my 45 to the range at Barksdale with a few other officers. We were swapping and trying different guns and one of our male nurses who had been a policeman for a number of year tried it and could not shoot it. He was proficient...
I e mailed Art on Sat, Feb 11, and got a reply the next day it was "on the block".
My son called and wants to meet us next month, so I e mailed Art yesterday so he would not ship for delivery the middle of March and I get a reply this morning that the hat will be going out this this week...
Looks about as simple and low tech as it could be. Just make different length blocks to clamp in for different width brims. Basically the same as the rounding jack except not as easily adjustable.
Freightpilot, you make a lot of excellent and valid points and I find I agree with all.
Down here in E Texas, we have to carry concealed, no open carry allowed. The cooler months when I can wear a jacket or vest, I usually carry one of the compact 45's, a Kimber ultra carry or Para Ordance...
That's the way I have been wearing my cattelman creas OR also. Looks a little less cowboyish.
Middle Ga, what part? My wife's from Macon. I found her when I was pharmacy officer down at Robins AFB.
