Tie on left, no label, machine stitching, no liner, very short length, possibly from the 1920's.
Tie on right, Mister Slim reg. no. 618,278 rayon knit of unkown age. Possibly '50s-early '60s. Bought for my friend.
I have here a '40s/'50s shirt, and I'm curious as to how to properly wash it. It has a somewhat nubby texture and feels as if it could be a cotton/rayon mix. Any loungers have any tips on how to properly wash these kinds of shirts?
Though I don't normally go for jackets made in the latter part of the 1960's, I couldn't pass up on this one's mod styling. I know there was nostalgia for the '30s mens suits/jackets in the late '60s, but this jacket appears to be referencing the late 1910's early 1920's style. It's similar to...
Shirt of unknown vintage. I tried researching the tag, but only found 1 other shirt with a similar tag from the '60s but with a much smaller collar. Any loungers here know how to date shirts?
What I wore to Powerhouse Stomp 2 at the Highline Ballroom in Manhattan. Post-1948 suit jacket 1940's tie, and '60s tie clip. Everything else modern. The 1940's style I was going for actually worked for the party as one of the events consisted of a live performance of Tex Avery's Red Hot Riding...
Gray is a neutral color and basically can go with anything. I believe your suit in particular would look great with black shoes, especially for such a special occasion.
The '90s was the Golden Age for TV cartoons, as in this era animators were given a lot of freedom and room to experiment. This 2nd Golden Age of cartoons was brought upon thanks to the success of "Who Framed Rodger Rabbit" in 1988. I'm 21 and an animator so Ren and Stimpy is both nostalgic and...
Found this 1920's/1930's linen sport jacket at the jazz age lawn party. I finally own a belted back jacket! :) Needs to be cleaned, pressed and have some repairs made, but other than that it's in excellent shape.
Just picked these two up.
The tie on right lacks a label. due to it's shorter length, color and fabric I'm guessing 1940's. The atomic fleck tie has me baffled, it's slimmer and longer like a '50s tie, but it lacks a liner and has machine stitching like a '20s-'30s tie. Anyone know anymore...
What a wore for my job at a diner. A patron told me I reminded him of Felix Frankfurter. He normally refers to me as "Back to the Future". The tie dates to no later than 1966, and the waistcoat, being partially made of polyester is probably of more recent manufacture. Everything else is modern.
