I brought a similar Johnny Depp Public Enemies picture to my barber and it really does help! It's a rather hard haircut to describe which is why I think most modern barbers cut the hair too short.
One of my favorites too! My friends and I had been planning this theme for a while. We're all animators, and it was about time we dressed like cartoons characters for Halloween! Your avatar happens to be from my favorite Daffy cartoon by the way!
We couldn't find one in time, or a purple...
I made a perosnal discovery regarding the belted back sport coats. Upon watching the 1924 Keaton film "The Navigator" I realized that the '60s belted backs might actually have been more inspired by the sporty early '20s style sportcoats. In the film Keaton is wearing a tweed, two button belted...
What I wore to my Career Strategies class last night. It finally got cool enough for me to finally break out my '50s overcoat. The buttons were replaced sometime between now and then.
I'm sure to most this would pass for a '40s look, but it definitly says '80s to me. It's low medium width lapels and boxy cut are the giveaway. Late '40s early '50s double breasted jacket/suits aren't impossible to find and are normally much more affordable than pre-1948 suits and jackets.
My friends and I are planning to go to our College Halloween party as "The Dover Boys" from the Chuck Jones cartoon of the same name.

It's the fitted single breasted high peak lapel look that says late '20s/'30s to me. I've seen the double button thing as late as 1955, in the movie "Guys and Dolls".
Those are called Monk Fish, you can find them living in the North Atlantic. Probably one of the ugliest fish I've ever seen. My grandma says they're delicious though.
I couldn't sit through the whole thing when the show premeired. So many inaccuracies and over acting. Seriously, since when does a Kennedy era pilot have long sideburns. They're trying too hard to be the next Mad Men, and as a result the show feels like a 1970's does the 1950's type show, just...
I pretty much have the same opinion as most other loungers, clothes, cars, music, movies, etc. But another main thing about the Golden Era that hasn't been mentioned on this thread is animation. Animated cartoons were once also works of art, created by people with a vision for storytelling. The...
Yes! I tried on their newsboy cap and was quite impressed! They make their caps so that they have structure when you put them on, so they keep their roundness. They even make their ivy/flat caps the proper wider shape too. They're a little too pricey for me though.
