I was wearing an early '50s double breasted suit jacket and brown '50s overcoat. Surprisingly, it was pretty warm that day in NYC, reaching around the mid-50s, quite unusual for this time of year.
What I wore hanging around with my college chums in the city today. Wearing my recently purchased vintage gabardine '40s Hollywood slacks (also the first pair of vintage slacks I've ever purchased).
Just received this '30s silk hand painted tie. Not in the best shape but got it for a bargain. It features a loop for the tail, which is pretty rare as I have not seen it on any ties made before the '70s. Upon looking up the patent number, it showed the patent for the loop that is put near the...
I'm still a novice when it comes to dating ties. I'd like to know what makes the hand painted one post-war. Is it the width? I didn't realize the machine stitching look was still in use after WWII.
Though it's the middle of fall and we already had a day of snow, the weather here in New York spiked up to 70 degrees on Tuesday. I went for an early '50s casual look that day.

I recently picked up this NRA Label Overcoat, dating it to the 1933-1935 period. It's made out of a very thick nubby wool material and is VERY heavy, though I can't determine what the exact weight is. They certainly don't make overcoats like this anymore.
The show was fun and I was amazed by some of the selections, but the prices were far too expensive in my opinion. I did pick up a nice '40s tie at one booth for a decent budget price, but I'm surprised how high certain things cost when in the surounding area you can find the same thing for a lot...
Long center vents are not a 1960's invention. Suits from the before the '20s tended to have them and I've seen 3 exampels of them apearing on belted back jackets from the '20s-'40s. Though not common, jackets still had them. I've seen smaller vents on some pre-WWII British sportcoats, but in...
