    What are you wearing today??

I was wearing an early '50s double breasted suit jacket and brown '50s overcoat. Surprisingly, it was pretty warm that day in NYC, reaching around the mid-50s, quite unusual for this time of year.

    What are you wearing today??

What I wore hanging around with my college chums in the city today. Wearing my recently purchased vintage gabardine '40s Hollywood slacks (also the first pair of vintage slacks I've ever purchased).

Just received this '30s silk hand painted tie. Not in the best shape but got it for a bargain. It features a loop for the tail, which is pretty rare as I have not seen it on any ties made before the '70s. Upon looking up the patent number, it showed the patent for the loop that is put near the...

Very nice! The props remind me of the Little Lulu cartoon which featured the song, "Swinging on a Star".

I'm still a novice when it comes to dating ties. I'd like to know what makes the hand painted one post-war. Is it the width? I didn't realize the machine stitching look was still in use after WWII.

    What are you wearing today??

Though it's the middle of fall and we already had a day of snow, the weather here in New York spiked up to 70 degrees on Tuesday. I went for an early '50s casual look that day. -1950's Lee Fedora -Early 1950's Ripley sportcoat -Modern Shirt -1950's tie -'80s/'90s Gorsart slacks -Allen...

    Show us your TIES

Been meaning to post some ties I've gotten over the last few months. The striped tie I found among my dad's collection of '80s/'90s ties. He got it sometime between the late '50s early '60s. I refer to it as the "Tim Burton Tie". The orange tie apears to be from the '50s, and being a dog...

    NRA Label Overcoat

I recently picked up this NRA Label Overcoat, dating it to the 1933-1935 period. It's made out of a very thick nubby wool material and is VERY heavy, though I can't determine what the exact weight is. They certainly don't make overcoats like this anymore.

Gentlemen's Vintage Clothing Show & Sale in NYC

The show was fun and I was amazed by some of the selections, but the prices were far too expensive in my opinion. I did pick up a nice '40s tie at one booth for a decent budget price, but I'm surprised how high certain things cost when in the surounding area you can find the same thing for a lot...

Sharp 1930s Fordham Tan Belted Back 3 button Patch Pocket Coat

That's what made me realise that the '60s/'70s belted backs are mimicking sporty '20s jackets more so than conservative '30s jackets.

Sharp 1930s Fordham Tan Belted Back 3 button Patch Pocket Coat

Long center vents are not a 1960's invention. Suits from the before the '20s tended to have them and I've seen 3 exampels of them apearing on belted back jackets from the '20s-'40s. Though not common, jackets still had them. I've seen smaller vents on some pre-WWII British sportcoats, but in...
