Just hit 'em with spray-on suede effect and you'll have rough-out boondockers/booncrockers.:D Ace jacket, by the way. Very nice indeed.

By complete coincidence, I came across this just now: http://doursoux.com/product.php?id_product=670

    Attention UK members please

I'm sure that's true. But 'best dressed' doesn't necessarily mean 'comfortable, practical and cool' while on a round the world adventure (I'm extremely envious, btw!). The fact remains that in a trench coat he'll look as if he's on his way to a day's work at the tax office. If that's the effect...

Very interesting - thanks for all the work! Where does the Canadienne fit into the picture? Is it essentially the same thing?

Alexander Leathers Simmons and Aero Aeromarine Discussion

I think I like the AL shawl collar number best, so far. But then again, I have a bit of a patch pocket fetish myself... The wing collar thing is beyond horrific, though: a gargoyle of a jacket. On the other hand, with those pockets as a starting point, they could make one of those...

    Attention UK members please

I don't personally think that wearing a Burberry trenchcoat could possibly make the OP's nephew look like a member of that particular British tribe - I'm avoiding the 'c' word - epitomised by the Burb ballcap. Quite the opposite: he'll look (in the UK) like a Young Conservative or just a nerd -...

Vintage denim hunting in Spitalfields market

Still is. Start under the Westway and work your way up the hill to Goldborne Road - couple of very good vintage shops there as well. Then coffee and a pastel de nata at Porto or Lisboa... None of it is cheap though, except for the pastel.

    Practical alternative to M-1941?

Yes, well, chaps.... The major's bargain tanker, though incredibly tempting and an absolute bargain, might not be exactly what I'm looking for. Who makes a decent M-421 these days? There's an RRL attempt that looks reasonable but the cotton/nylon puts me off and the fake name tag is tacky...

Why you love Bomber Jackets. (its bomber jacket season again!)

Yes, this is what I think of as a 'bomber jacket,' but it's actually way, way nicer than what I have in mind. The archetypal bomber of my schooldays was made of some God-awful thin, primitively distressed hide and bagged out around the waist, offsetting the hideous skintight/balloon effect of...

    Practical alternative to M-1941?

I've been wanting an M-1941 as an everyday wearer but the lack of pockets, particularly an inside one, has stopped me from going for it. What has the late 30s ambience of the M-1941 but with pockets etc more conducive to a man on the go? I'm sure that, if such a thing ever existed, it is being...

    Jerky Horse

Looks more like the original maker trying to big-up plain old steerhide. Presumably the principle is the same though, so perhaps not actually wrong?

The Few FW 2013-14 @ Mushmans

No, I don't dig the boots either - but I would sort of dig knowing I had a pair of boots called 'Ortensia.'

Nice one! I'd been watching that jacket. If it had been a 42 I'd have nabbed it.

    An alternate Aeromarine??

I'll never forgive All Saints for what they did to Portobello Road. Beside their monstrosity on the corner of Westbourne Grove which destroyed a whole world of antique stalls, kitting yoofs out like Brookie extras seems positively benign. And now, back to your scheduled programme...:)

Cool! I'm not a fan of dropped fronts so I'd want to see it squared off or at least not as exaggerated. Buttons all the way down for sure. I agree with throat latch and flapped button chest pocket (or patch pocket) and perhaps button loops on the waist pockets. And if it was mine I'd want button...
