I don't think the lads had made sergeant by that point but the wings sewn on the breast means that they must have done at least one combat jump. It might even be that you had to go on three missions (although that might have come later - it's been a while since i've thought about such things)...
I've got them in a book called 'This is the SAS' by Tony geraghty. It's a large format photbook of the SAS from WW2 to the 70's. I've got it in my attic somewhere.
I'll see what I can do on sunday - too much going on 'til then I'm afraid.
Cheero

There isn't even one in the Regimental museum. I don't think any turned up when the last of the originals passed away either.
You have to remember that these guys received this beret whilst in Egypt. When these guys changed berets, they may have stashed them in kitbags but, brearing in mind...
Which by definition is a JERKIN and not a jacket. :p Sleeves are required for it to be a jacket. And I'm not entirely sure it was still an issue item at that stage.......

Hi Payj
:)
Hi J,
A true survivor ! If my introducing you to aero was the only good thing to come of our working together, then it was worth it after all :p
Haven't ordered the jacket yet. The waiting list would mean I won't get it until after Christmas. I think that the falling pound...
Rugby
I remember a rugby team mate back in the 70's who used to wear his grandfathers rugby shorts for the craic. They came to below his knees lol When he ran, it looked like his feet were moving but no other part of his legs. Bit like Biff in the 'Beano' comic. Made the opposition laugh 'til...
Cool
Sounds like a good philosophy Steve.
as they say; there's no pockets in a shroud. You certainly can't take all those jackets with you. Robert Louis Stephenson said " the more a man possesses above his needs, the more careworn he becomes". Travel light and travel easy is how I see it...
To others as you would to yourself
I'm with Carter on this. :eusa_clap
This guy's response rate and closed out sale rate suck.
Who needs the disappointment ?
Dave
Steve,
I never thought I'd see this day arrive Steve. That sure is a change in attitude of colossal proportions.:eusa_clap Have to say I'm the same; I could care diddlysquat what other people think and wear my jackets to suit the occassion, weather and my mood. The sad reality for me is that a...
Gongs
I liked the comment that room on the stomach was going to be needed for all the scrambled egg and gold that is authorised for wear !
In the British Army, even a vet' of Kosovo, GW1, Northern Ireland, GW2, Afghanistan and long service is unlikely ever to go higher than 9 ribbons. There...
Sadly with the pound going from $2.01 to $1.54 it has made buying foreign a less attractive option than before. A GW now costs 25% more than it did just a few months ago - and we are in recession
Dave
Ta !
Thanks for that info' HD. I like the look of your jacket and the slanted top pocket.
I'll have to have a word with Amanda about length but as I'm only 5'9 I may not need to change much.
