I went by The Executive Shop mentioned above. The gentleman I spoke with, Rick, was very nice and polite.
I was well received even with the presence of my large western hat. He (Rick) and I talked about the hats he had and slowly viewed the collection he had. This shop has a collection of wool...
After a brief search to see if I could find images of what you described I found the following thumb-size images. http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mei9OY3aeEPOf0xZMBHPBHw.jpg

I believe you could fit a western style...
That appears to have an almost full crown from what I can see. In a pecan color, that would be interesting to see. I would like to see it, if you care to share.
I am happy to hear that the chocolate color goes well with some many things. I am very excited about adding this color to my small but growing collection. :D
Does anyone own any chocolate (brown) colored western/cowboy hats? If so, what do you wear them with most often? I like the chocolate color; I am just not sure how much I have to wear would go well with a chocolate hat.
Agreed. I have heard such directions before. I do not recall where but I have heard it. Thank you for reminding me, it cannot hurt to hear it again. :)
That is great to hear! I had read that some hats may undergo further "felting" if soaked.
So to have people have experience with them Not shrinking is very exciting. Woohoo!
There is a game based around the events tied to Jack the Ripper that I just truly enjoy playing. It has a nice sized board and an interesting form of play. The game is called, "Letters from Whitechapel." It is worth the money. Gather some real intellectuals and enjoy!
I have been thinking that for future felt hats that I may seek out a 4.25 inches brim or 4.50 inches brim. Simply for the purpose that should the hat get completely soaked if the felting process takes place during drying and it shrinks, then it will not be smaller than 4 inches. Hopefully.
It would seem for time being I will not be wearing my hat while I drive. It is much more cost effective to take my hat than to purchase a new vehicle. HaHa
I must have seen a dozen newsboy caps, 3-5 fedoras, a top hat, and 30 western styled hats. I was in Western Wear and Tack Shop. It seemed everywhere I looked someone had a hat on. It was nice.
I have two fur hats; they are both black.
I am considering a chocolate colored hat. I like the chocolate color that both Stetson and Resistol offer for their western hats.
I have one other hat that is a shantung by Stetson with a brown leather hat band.
I will say, however, that black is...
Upfront, I know little about fedoras. Do they have variants with tall crowns?
I own only western/cowboy hats, and each of them have tall crowns. With the straw hat I own having the shortest crown.
I drive a Nissan Xterra but there is not enough for me to wear a hat, unless I remove the headrest and lean the seat back a fair bit. As for getting in and out with the hat on, I must make very certain movements. I can only imagine what it must look like from a viewer's perspective.
I suppose...
Hats and Vehicles
I have some hats I would like to wear while driving and I have a vehicle that is not western hat friendly.
So I wanted to ask what vehicles if any are hat wearing friendly. I do understand that one's height is a large factor in this. As I am 6 foot 3 inches tall (or 1.91...
I have a full length duster that was made by Australian Outfitters, not an Outback Trading company duster, I have had it for 20 years. It is able to snapped up into a shorter coat or unsnapped into a longer coat. It also has leg straps for when riding a horse (or motorcycle.) It comes with the...
I see that I have stumbled upon this thread many many years later. Nonetheless, I will add what I know.
