I'm not sure what the actual "bumps" may signify (although I would tend to agree with Artie), but let me just note that Stetsons are somewhat notorious for coping badly with the rain. At least, some models are. I'm sure a few Stetson owners can clarify that.
The hat I got is from whatpriceglory.com/onlinemilitaria.net - it's a reproduction of the World War II era slouch. This model was different from the others (i.e., like yours from the sixties) in that it had no binding and the brim was held up with a snap instead of the little pin affair on later...
Oh, a cricket bat no doubt. Stiffest hat I've ever handled (and an Akubra nonetheless). Guess it goes with the whole military spec. Thing was rigid as sheet metal.
Since we seem to be on the subject
As a rule of thumb, I boycott Disneyland on moral grounds of corporation evil. However, I get dragged to the place about once a year (and the word dragged takes on quite a literal meaning after a time, trust me). It's fun and all, but really...it's not worth...
I may have mentioned this a few years ago when it happened, but I was once asked whilst wearing my brown Akubra if I worked at Disneyland.
Things like that just baffle me...if I see a girl wearing a french Beret, do I ask her if she lives in Paris?
Tell me about it.
Variety A - Tapout shirts, Dickies shorts, socks with sandals or skate shoes. Flat-billed trucker hat with shaved head or some sort of five-year-old-kid buzz cut. Small vocabulary, uses the word s**t as an adjective. Synonomous with the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado...
To tell you the truth GtDean, I'm really digging the way it looks. I would just leave it the way you have it - maybe beat it around a bit to soften up the swoop on the brim.
I just ordered this Digger hat from WPG. I'm really looking forward to pushing this one around in the desert - it's such an awesome, iconic piece of clothing (and history!)
After hearing about your guys' experiences with WPG's quality, I'm glad this product has been left in the hands of Akubra...
Well fellas, I just ordered an Akubra slouch (the WWII version from WPG - not the military dress one) and it should be here in a few days. I'm really lookinf forward to rocking the Digger look for my next trip into the bush. I hope I like it - cost me enough.
Hey fellas,
I've got some cash to blow and I'm trying to decide between a couple of new hats. One I'm considering is the Snowy River - but holy heck! I can't seem to find anywhere that sells it for less than $130.00. I don't really want to wait around on eBay just hoping that one pops up if...
I found one of these at Target the other day and I think it could work. It's only got four buttons, but the collar is long enough that it retains more or less the same look as the seven-button version. The material is also very lightweight and breathable, more akin to a true undershirt.
If the...
Now that's a beautiful jacket.
Indeed, the extra stuff around the waist is a bit bothersome, but what jacket nowadays doesn't have that? I don't think it subtracts from the look until you point it out.
