Get the chaps. More versatile, more comfortable and more breathable. After all, if it's wet, you'll be wearing a jacket ! Dave

    Wehrmacht Collection

Hi,, Thanks for the considered and intelligent response. I fully understand the deisre to have a quality repro of something that is either unobtainable or prohibitively expensive . I just feel that if I had something on display to others' eyes that when they asked is it original, I...

BATTLE OF BRITAIN (1940) - Respecting THE FEW.

'Fighter Pilot' by Paul Richey, whilst not of the BoB as such, is a very good account of the events leading up to the BoB. Fall of France etc. 'Piece of Cake' is a rippingly good read and, if I remember correctly, is a great 'factional' book of the BoB. Great characterisations and dialogues...

Some people have too much time on their hands and need to get back to their regular jobs ! lol lol lol lol The Mods know their stuff and will do as they see fit. We don't need self-appointed policemen. If you really feel the need, then simply PM a mod and leave it at that. No need to do...

    1939 GW Werber

Andrew, you need to say nothing more of YOUR reasons. They are non of my business anyways and I'm sure you realise that you don't have to justify anything to anyone. Tis a free world - more or less ;) Whilst it has been your thread where I have posted, my remarks are concerning a lot more...

    1939 GW Werber

Hell no, Andrew. To each their own. :) There's room enough for all opinions in this world. Although others might think that their view alone is doctrine..... I speak as I find and if I don't understand something then I say so and hope to receive enlightenment :) My points were simply...

    1939 GW Werber

No Andrew, I would never expect you to be critical of John's jackets, any more than I would be now. A couple of years back, for sure but I haven't disputed for quite a while that John makes the best jackets and provides a service that larger scale makers like ELC , RMNZ, Aero et al cannot...

    1939 GW Werber

Andrew, I am genuinely confused. All the planning and communications between you and John to get every one of those tiny details right. All the hard work by John to make it EXACTLY the way you wanted it. All the waiting and anticipation. The fanfare when it arrived. All the cooing and...

**NEWS EXTRA**Good Wear flying jackets take vintage authenticity to new heights!!

I have goat HBL myself so I do know of what I speak. I presume that ease of movement is an Italian thing : makes it easier to surrender more quickly ! ;-) Or perhaps the original designer liked doing the 'okey-dokey ?!! Cheers, dave

    D1 or Irvin

B-6 or D-1. Irvins are too bulky IMVHO. That's assuming you want practicality over swank and pose of course. If you want pose then go Irvin. There's a reason the USAAF went for the B-6 and fabric jackets over the more bulky shearlings for tight fighter cockpits. The RAF didn't have the option of...

    Favorite Uniforms

WW2 SAS European Theatre. Despatch rider's boots and Joddies, Denison smock, low slung tankers holster and cherry beret to top it off. Iconic ! I'll see if I can find a photo ..... German Fallschirmjagers looked pretty cool and practical. Dave

    old-fashioned hiking boots

Pip, I think this is what you are looking for, no ? Just scroll down a bit. http://www.chaussure-paraboot.com/bucheron-c-1.html Must be a type you are after amongst this little lot ! I used to use Galibier Makalu boots myself for climbing in the Alps as a lad in the 80's. Try an ebay...

Nice looking jacket Kalil. But I do wonder what use the 'bi-swing' is on this and the Aero jackets as they end too low down to be of much actual use. The shoulders stay tight and the reach isn't improved IMVHO. On the G-1s it works great. Dave

    Aero B-3 on a motorcycle?

I know for a fact that Irvins were used on motorbikes post war. But, rather like my A-2 , should you come off the bike, don't expect the protection or any likelihood that you'll get any further use from said jacket ! Aero FQHH jackets make good bike jackets too and I have read of several...

    Aero B-3 on a motorcycle?

No flight jacket was ever designed with abrasion protection in mind. However, I use my ELC Cable goatskin A-2 often on my bike in summer. I know it doesn't have armour or any of the other features of a modern motorcycle jacket. I know the risks and I make an informed choice. So can you...

That pack is Norwegian and not Swedish. They used to be used to hold the shelter quarter and pegs. I have several of them myself. All bought from A Norwegian Army surplus dealer. Dave
