Thanks Edward.
I had the pockets sewn on to the rear by Barbour themselves. Cost me £36 for the pockets and the sewing. Really useful addition.
I added the flag as I only wear the Barbour suit when on my motorbike and I do a lot of international travelling and like folks to know where I am from...
Tie to resurrect an old thread methinks :D
Here's my International, still going strong after several multi-week tours of Europe (last one early May this year) and a several week tour of Scandinavia, via Holland, Germany and Denmark.
In action
Modest as ever ......... and why do you wear originals to air shows ?
Take away the goat and steer / horse as the obvious difference and all you have left to distinguish between them is patches and painting. Why anyone would want more than one or two of the same jacket is beyond me. But to...
Thankfully, whilst my and many others grandfathers might have not wanted to return/stay in/at the front, they dug in and returned from leave, hospital or just stuck it out at the front to re-join their mates and fight a common foe.
There were many cases of guys leaving the front for a few...
Easy to mock a guy past his prime. I wonder how you'll be when you are a similar age. At least he had actually been there and done something rather than just worn vintage clothes ...... Better to be a tired old has-been than a slim never-was.
I haven't read you mocking equally ridiculous...
A full restoration to fly again ??????? C'mon folks, that's a bit too whimsical. 65+ years submerged in SALT water....... the only original piece would be the brass data plate.
any word on the Burmese Spitfires ? It's all gone real quiet since they were supposed to start digging at the end...
Here's my son in one of my Blacks tents.
Camped on the shores of Lac D'Annecy as a base for a weeks' climbing in the French Alps in August. We didn't bother with the flysheet as we flew over and were tight for space. Only one night's rain - heavy - but no water in the tent at all.
Let's hope that no-one else is as 'kind' as you or there'll be no orders in the books, they'll go under and you'll never see a jacket from them and nor will anyone else .............
Most of what you saw in the photos was coffin parts ........ Phillips screws are post WW2. The wire bits are part of the coffin too. Do you really think that a man with that much in his KNEE could even move ? I imagine the family said something to the cremators about how was there a bullet in...
Looks like a number of people here are looking to take from the general knowledge but not to give........
As noted by the OP, photos are hard to get hold of so if you have one, how about posting photos for the rest to gain knowledge from ?
Stansfield designer, it's been a whiles so how...
That is a wonderful collection of photos you have presented sir. Very well done to all the members of your group.
May I ask which maker of the double-breasted windbluse you use. They look very good indeed !
Thank you for taking the time to post these photos.
Dave
Thanks for that Gene. The label is barely readable but it is wartime dated. The only problem is that someone removed the epaulettes - very expertly done mind - so full price might be too much. I neglected to mention that above.
Have a good evening, Dave
Advertise on here like i did. There are no shops with hundreds of these jackets sitting on a shelf. The Band of Brothers mini series made lots of people want these in 2001-2006.
If you are not an xl, I would recommend looking on ebay for an original.
I have 3 originals - one a 50L, one a 42R...
