I know this is how it has played out so far and with the trial narrative but I don't think the whole story has come out. I just have this inkling that a lot is left unknown. If I were in SA's position, ie. a successful and presumably proud businessman (most men like this are not only proud of...
Does anyone else wonder if WL took everyone on both sides of this for ride? If he was willing to screw over the Calders, who he'd known most of his adult life, who's to say he didn't do the same to SA and all those Aero staff etc. Playing both ends against each other. Maybe in the long run he...
Shame about what appears to be a truly horrible waist knit replacement on that USN jacket. Just goes to show you may be able to marry ScarJo but you still can't have everything.
As Summer has arrived here in SF, I'm thinking about breaking out the Irvin. Today is cold and damp. Or at least it will be until about 3:30pm when the sun will come out for a couple hours.
Generally though I can tolerate a leather jacket up to about 70 degrees.
I think the trouble is that there is almost infinite choice and getting a consensus under that is virtually impossible. It would be better I think to approach it from the other end. Have Buzz Rickson propose maybe two styles they could produce and have the forum then vote on those. Maybe with...
That is a nice looking A-2 Sloan and I much prefer the 'collar stand' contracts but unsnap that thing and beat it up a bit. I have hardly ever seen any period photos of pilots or crew with their collars snapped. It looks so stiff and uncomfortable. But hey vive la difference!
According to a conversation I had with John last year, he does. At least he specs that they don't roller it like they do for other makers. He asks that they keep it more naturally grained.
Have to say the Vincenza really is in the same league as Good Wear spec Shinki. It's beautiful stuff. I really want to get JC to make me either another A-2 or a Ventura in the Seal at some point.
^Thanks mendelboaz.
I've been lucky in my GW purchasing in that I am virtually the same size as John so the sale page has helped and ebay and the various classified boards. I have never had to wait for any of them. I also have a G-1 that you can see in the latest thread on those and an Eastman...
Self dyed and 'combat cloned' GW Dubow 27798 in steer. (Excuse the Whole Paycheck background)
Aero Shackleton in Seal Vincenza.
GW Dubow 20960 in Dark Russet Shinki.

Here are a couple of my Good Wear L.W. Foster 55-J-14. This is an early one and John has since revised the pattern a little but it is indeed a very 'inverted pyramid' type shape. I've lost about 30lbs since this photo so it fits much better now. Especially around the torso. Apologies if you've...
Just a word of caution, the early 55-J-14 can be a very trim pattern around the waste and torso. Check the measurements very carefully. If you want an Aero, maybe go through Insurrection/Thurston Brothers and get a fit jacket.
Good Wear really is as good as it gets but has a long wait list and...
Olive oil can oxidize if exposed to light. That's why if you buy it in a clear bottle you should cover it with an opaque bag of some kind. On leather this could be possible but maybe not once absorbed. I've used a product called Renapur for many years and recently tried the suggestion from...
I have to say the 'real why' is what interests me the most to. The inner workings of someones mind when it comes to stuff like this is intriguing. I stated earlier that it felt like 'revenge' for a perceived wrong doing towards him that drove it. People kind of shouted me down saying that was...
