PART 3
I decided to make a bow that I’ve seen in several pre-1920 ads. It has a left hand and right hand fray with a center twist.
Here’s the hat after the sweatband and ribbon was installed. it was basically finished at this point but wasn’t yet creased…
PART 2
The next step was to flange the brim. I used a flange that reminded me of 19-teens hats. It has a very flat top and a high cup.
I then cut the sweatband to fit, taped the rear seem like pre-1930’s hat makers did, and laced the rear section of the sweatband after I measured...
PART 1
Here’s a western conversion that I finished about 6 months ago, but realized I never posted.
The hat was originally a modern 90’s-2000’s Stetson long hair cowboy hat. Same exact hat as the Resistol Panda (both made by Hatco) Most definitely a long hair rabbit/wild hare blend...
VERY interesting. I know you waited quite a while for it. Did Delmonico order a batch of light gray in different sizes or did they put a special order for your hat only?
Superb! I saw that one on ebay as well. I had hoped that you picked this one up. Beautiful early Longhair which definitely has a different look to it than a long hair Hare or Nutria. It looks like some of the photos I have seen of true Beaver top hats from the 1830's/1840's.
WHOA!!!!!!! That is the tallest/squarest derby I have ever seen. It is absolutely fantastic!!!! I am extremely interested in seeing whats behind the sweatband. Unreal find!!
+1!
Its a beautiful hat with clean lines. Something tells me that the felt will either be a semi-light or a light weight felt due to the tip sticker. It also has a less wide sweatband. Another rarer feature of these old Stetsons.
Someone (not me) picked up a very nice 20's/30's Stetson in my favorite color combo....Tan felt with light brown ribbon
Not sure how the seller knew it was a 7 1/4 though....no measurements are listed and the tag wasn't photographed or mentioned...
This isn't new to the lounge, but I have owned it for a while and felt it needed to be photo documented. The former owner has pulled their photos from the site.
This one dates to somewhere around 1889 to the very early 1890's. It has what I believe to be the first generation Stetson reorder...
Early 1890's Stetson Derby Green

This one is super interesting. The first white reorder tag is rare, but I have seen it before on very early 20th century hats. The left sample number tag has me intrigued. I have never seen a stetson tag that looked like that. Its very similar to the Schoble tags used very early on. I have a...
Thank you SO MUCH everyone! I really appreciate it! :yo::yo:
Perry, Joao will be quite saddened by the brim trim. I did leave the brim at 2 3/4 inches wide.....that's kinda of wide......
VERY interesting, Steve. After all of your research, i'm beginning to think that almost every time we see early 20th century "American" velours, the velour bodies were more than likely almost always imported from German/Austrian makers. I am fairly certain that even Stetson used imported velour...
