And I have a big flattop electric griddle so I can make 8 pieces at once, so making enough for breakfast plus leftovers for Lily for this week took me as look as to took Hubby's coffee to brew. Yahoo!
French toast, made with eggs, whole milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and Texas toast bread.
Texas turtle coffee with cream & Turbinado sugar for Hubby, Yorkshire tea with whole milk and Turbinado sugar for me.
Pot roast is real. Searing the meat is key. And my trick for seasoning is this glorious stuff called Better Than Bouillon. It is a thick seasoned paste that I put with the roast when I cook it. I use the roasted garlic variety. Yum!
My mom cooked, but poorly. She was famous for burning just about everything. Her extent of seasonings was salt and pepper. I definitely did not learn to cook from her. I picked up some from my Gran. Hubby brought a rich food culture from Texas with him when he moved up here, so my horizons were...
Homemade grilled pizza night. Lily & I shared a bacon cheeseburger pizza (hamburger, onions, tomatoes, bacon, cheese, pickles), and Hubby had a Hubby's Special (hamburger, onions, green bell pepper, jalapenos, bacon, cheese). Leftovers for lunch tomorrow!
Alice Springs chicken (seasoned chicken with bacon and mushrooms on top, covered in Colby jack cheese and melted on the grill, served with honey mustard dipping sauce.) Hubby had grilled zucchini, green bell peppers and onion. I had a green salad with balsamic vinaigrette. And corn on the cob.
Spicy peanut noodles (homemade peanut sauce, shredded purple cabbage, scallion, chopped peanuts, pad thai noodles), and grilled tri-tip that had been marinated in soy sauce, ginger, garlic, & sesame oil. Really good. Lily devoured it.
Hubby grilled flatbread pizza tonight. Lily & I shared this one. It has roasted chicken, bacon, pepperoni, caramelized onions, golden cherry tomatoes, and some basil. Parmesan and mozzarella under all the toppings. It was delicious
Hubby, Lily, and I marched with her Girl Scout troop in our local 4th of July parade. The route was about 2 miles, and the weather was mid-80s. We were tired at the end! Hubby was a good sport to wear that silly hat the entire time.
I love summer weekday breakfast with my girlie. This morning was vanilla yogurt with blueberries and granola, buttered sourdough toast with cheese, and a cup of Yorkshire tea with Turbinado sugar and whole milk.
Goulash. Hubby said it was the best I've ever made. Lily scarfed hers down and asked for a piece of bread to "sop" up the sauce. (Thanks, growth spurt for the always hungry kid!) Hubby approved of her soppin' technique.
In an effort to eat less carbs, more veggies.... I present you mesquite tgrilled tri-tip steak, butter sauteed asparagus, garlic-butter-worcestershire-lemon mushrooms, grilled yellow squash. Oh, so good!
Lily decided tonight that she is a fan of horseradish cream on her steak. Quite the...
Have you tried infusing your own liquor with peppers? Hubby did a smoked jalapeno tequila last year to use in margaritas. He loved it so much he took it to a work party to share, and then he got several orders for it!
