Hubby's weekend is Friday & Saturday, so today is our one day together as a family before his work week starts. I try to do "nicer" meals today so we can enjoy our family time. Lily gets shredded wheat, cheerios, or oatmeal usually on school days.
Fluffy buttermilk pancakes with butter and syrup, crispy bacon. A cup of Lady Gray tea with Turbinado sugar for me, Lady Gray with honey for Lily, and coffee with a teaspoon of Nutella and a splash of whole milk for Hubby. He loved his so much he would have chugged it (except for it being so...
He chose Brussels sprouts. I got them at Trader Joe's. They were baby ones - about the size of a marble! Lily ate quite a few of them.
I sprinkled a tiny bit of cinnamon and brown sugar on the sweet potatoes for the last 10 minutes in the oven. The sugar caramelized. They are Hubby's new...
Chicken breast slow cooked in chicken gravy, mashed potatoes, and french style green beans sauteed in butter & garlic. Delicious! And I get leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Yay me!
We eat seasonally (locally grown, if we can) because the quality of produce is better and more affordable. I shake my head when I see someone buy strawberries or a watermelon in mid-winter. I know they won't be as good as mid-summer fruit!
Cooked a 3# chuck roast (with leftovers in mind), mashed potatoes with gravy, and steamed carrots.
Adding carrots to the list of foods my body rejects now. Bummer.
Pb & Marionberry preserves wafflewich, cup of Lady Gray tea with Turbinado sugar in my Best Mom Ever mug (paid for with her own money, gifted to me for Mother's Day by Lily).
We try to take advantage of the bounty of fresh fruits available in the summer. This week we've had watermelon, cantaloupe, cherries, grapes, apricots, nectarines, blueberries, bananas, and apples.
Teaching her variety & portion control is important to make sure she can make healthy...
Back from vacation! So glad to eat home-cooked meals. I make food that is so much better than a restaurant.
Last night, soft beef tacos.
Tonight, cheddar dogs, Cheetos, green salad with Goddess dressing. (Lily picked the meal - can you tell?)
Last night, basil-lemon chicken, rice pilaf, broccoli, peas, & Brussels sprouts. Hubby hated the chicken so much he gave his portion to Lily, who gobbled it down because she loved it. He requested me not make it again. :(
Tonight, hamburgers & smashed potato salad.
