I know I can flatten/straighten out my thin-ribbons with a wet finger. You might try a bit of water and see if you can smooth it out with your fingertip. I'm grasping at straws here, but since no else has provided a fix, I thought I'd chime-in.
I have one of each, so I just took them outside to look at them in our overcast and diffuse daylight. My Fed IV is a slightly lighter shade of grey, with a hint to more blue, compared to the CDD.
Well, the ladies at The Hattery have done it again. When I heard about the Campdraft Deluxe discontinuation, I emailed The Hattery and inquired if there were any available in my size. (Yes, I already have one of each color, but I want to give #2 a different bash.) They replied immediately as...
I would add that Moonstone is only available in the Campdraft Deluxe (Heritage felt), which has been discontinued. Bluegrass Green is available in the Camp Draft (Imperial felt) which as far as we know, will continue in production.
Folks may want to snatch-up the Campdraft Deluxe in Moonstone...
I see no difference in temperature with or without a liner. I pulled the liner from my beater hat as an experiment, but put it back after a couple of weeks.
The liner of my grandfather's hat was one of the things that made it so very different from my boyhood baseball caps, stocking caps...
To me a black fedora has an air of dressiness. A brown fedora can dress-up nicely, but it can also go casual just a little bit easier than the black. That's just my perception, and your mileage may vary. Enjoy your Saxon!
I'm definitely a consumer. My hats are all the same size, and they are out and at-the-ready for wearing. All but the black "dressy" fedora get worn regularly. Wearing 1 hat per day, my selection is small enough that I can work through it in a little over a week. And I make darn certain that...
I have a total of 11 fur felts, but I only count 10 since 1 is staged for "finding a new home." 8 hats in daily rotation, 1 beater hat that rarely leaves the house, and 1 black fedora that rarely gets worn.
The selfish part of me is glad to know that in the future I can go to David Morgan and get a new Campdraft. (I wonder what colors they will carry.) But it is a shame that the Bushman may be gone for good. I have 3, and that extra nudge of brim keeps the rain and sun off of me really well...
Nice Brent! I've tried the Light Sand version of that hat on many times at the DM store, but it doesn't suit me somehow. The Dark Fawn looks great on you!
I've got an Alberti all lined-up, but I haven't placed the order yet.... this would be my first custom hat. Does anyone have a head shot of a completed Alberti (not from the Hornskov site)? I think I just need a slight nudge to step over the threshold into buying custom hats.
As the Fed IV is exclusive to The Hattery, the Bushman is exclusive to David Morgan. Any business selling the Bushman has to get it through DM, so that is why it isn't listed on the Akubra site.
