I have passed two of my hats to a friend of nearly 45 years. He wears them a lot, and these hats suit him much better than they did me.
Here's the thing: both hats still have "my" bash. I find it odd to see my particular handiwork on my friend's head. Not that my hat-bashing is notable or...
Thanks! Knowing the vision I had for this hat, I gave the brim a tough inspection before I brought it home. The brim was very cooperative and I didn't need any steam/distilled water to get it the way I liked.
I may coax a friend to help me with proper pics at a later date so I can do a...
I gifted my Tawny Fawn Fed IV because it just didn't suit me, and I decided another hat would be in order. David Morgan is doing curbside pickup for local purchases, and frankly, I needed some immediate gratification.
I was in luck. I called DM with my target being a Bushman in Moonstone...
I commenced hat-wearing just over a year ago with felt. Summer 2019 came and went without me feeling a need for a straw. In July I played a 90-minute outdoor show in 85 (F) degree heat wearing my moonstone Akubra Bushman. I was completely comfortable, and left no sweat stains on the hat.

These quarantine conditions are beginning to affect me. The yard and back deck may see more of me than the usual exercise routine today. The Nullarbor Tan Bushman is along for the ride.
From yesterday: it has been years since I hauled-out the tai chi uniform to practice, but these times have me craving novelty. And the SBCD looks darn good with raw silk.
Washington State is on official lockdown now, and I'm staying indoors this morning, sporting the Moonstone Camp Draft. I'll get a tai chi session on the back deck, but that will be later after it warms a bit.
Today I practiced quarantine so no one saw that I went through my Tai Chi routine on the deck, in full Pacific Northwest sun, in my bluegrass green Camp Draft.
The quaint little berg of Duvall Washington. Not too long ago it was a farming community. Now it is growing like mad, but the folks try very hard to maintain the small-town affability.
Went by the coffee drive-thru on my way to band practice yesterday. When I reached the window the young lady handed me my java and said "the gentleman in the car ahead of you really likes your hat, and paid for your drink." Thank you, sir!
The first Fed IV I received was in black. That bad-boy is stiff as a board the the brim does indeed "snap" up and down. My moonstone Fed IV is less stiff overall, and the brim gently "clunks" up and down. My tawny fawn Fed IV arrived floppy as all get-out. It's definitely the least-firm hat...
Thank you, Steven! I'm very pleased with both of these hats. I realized that I have 5 CDs now. I shy away from the Cedar Brown but if Frunobulax posts another pic... ;)
I decided to start with a simple center dent on the TFCD and SBCD Deluxe. These are the most understated bashes I've done to date, and I must admit that I rather like them. Many thanks for the inspiration received right here on the Lounge.
